About the role

This role is responsible for defining and implementing the data engineering strategy to cover the ANJ BU. This is a role that combines both strategic leadership whilst still balancing the day to day needs of the BU

The ideal candidate is the perfect blend of data engineer and business data analyst who enjoys optimizing data systems- building them from the ground up- and educating others on the value of the data and how it can support various business use cases

This is a role for someone who craves a challenge balanced by the desire to be accountable for delivering in the largest business unit for Kraft Heinz.  This role demands constant interaction with internal colleagues and external partners from different functions and backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition- operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.

  • Running projects to help us improve and drive the consolidation of financial reporting across the International zone. This includes influencing CFOs and driving the adoption of best practices and tools

  • Working closely with partners in the International Finance team to understand their key needs and helping to drive data governance

  • Help to evangelize and spread the rationale for using tools like the standard EPOS reporting solution in Tableau to allow us to find breakthrough ideas at speed

  • Ensuring that BAU services are stable and moved to 3rd party vendors to execute and run

  • Identify- design- and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes- optimizing data delivery- re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability- etc.

  • Ensuring the stable running and adoption of the live services that are running now to ensure financial reporting is consolidated and reported in a timely fashion with excellence. This includes critical consolidation and reporting for the entire BU

  • Ensuring that the EPOS data pipelines are running well and that we are identifying and continuing to ingest new sources of data

  • Drive the continuous improvement and automation of data and ensure that we stay linked to the way in which users are visualizing the data in Tableau to ensure we enable them to access the data

  • Partnering with Global IT Data Engineering to ensure that our move to the Cloud is coordinated and executed well

  • Work with stakeholders including the IT Service Delivery and GBS organization to assist with data-related technical issues and support live data needs.

About You

  • 3+ years of rapid career advancement in a data analytics delivery role

  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases- query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.

  • Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines- architectures and data sets.

  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Build processes supporting data transformation- data structures- metadata- dependency and workload management.

  • A successful history of manipulating- processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.

  • Working knowledge of message queuing- stream processing- and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores.

  • 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role. They should also have experience using the following software/tools:

    • Big data tools: Hadoop- Spark- Kafka- etc.

    • Relational SQL and NoSQL databases- including Postgres and Cassandra.

    • Data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban- Luigi- Airflow- etc.

    • Stream-processing systems: Storm- Spark-Streaming- etc.

    • Object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python- Java- C++- Scala- etc.

    • Text processing scripting languages: Sed and AWK

    • REST API Pipelines for data extraction

    • DevOps tools: Jenkins- Git- Maven- SBT- etc.
