Role Overview

Reporting into the VP of Brand & Innovation for Canada- the Associate Director- Brand Building & Innovation for Easy Meals Made Better (EMMB) & Beverage- Desert and Infant (BDI) will be responsible for delivering breakthrough brand marketing plans and a disruptive innovation pipeline to transform key brands like KD- Crave- PurGrains & Maxwell House and others. You will also be a key player in driving the strategic growth planning efforts of our brands to deliver short and long-term brand health- household penetration- revenue- profit and share targets in line with company objectives.  As a natural story-teller- you will communicate the strategic vision for your portfolio to your key stakeholders in leadership- your cross-functional team including R&D- Business Development- Insights- and Category teams and navigate internal processes by influencing and inspiring them with your passion and excitement for your portfolio of brands.


  • Translate business situation and brand objectives into consumer-focused strategy including marketing strategic framework and brand foundations to drive brand equity and share
  • Build insight driven marketing briefs working collaboratively with Consumer Insights & partners
  • Work collaboratively with Consumer Insights Team and agencies to align on consumer centric creative ideas- integrated communication plans- through to creative & media execution
  •  Evaluate performance of strategy and executions to understand their effectiveness in meeting objectives and adjust as necessary
  • Build strong partnerships with internal teams (Global counterparts- Consumer Insights- R&D- Operations- Category- Sales and Finance) along with external agency partners to leverage the power of a strong multi-faceted team
  • Bring bold- non-traditional thinking to creative development- production and omni channel activation to optimize effectiveness and make a significant impact in the consumer environment
  • Lead creation and oversee development of 3-5 year long term innovation pipeline strategy focused on platform ideas that deliver revenue and profit targets from insight to strategy and concept to commercialization
  • Enable and support cross-functional team through commercialization process to validate new product concepts- identify manufacturing approach- design product and packaging- determine pricing strategy- align stakeholders on financial feasibility (total business case) and support customer sell-in.
  • Drive and optimize innovation process culture through adherence to key innovation routines and rituals- Innovation Business Propositions alignment- Innovation Stage Gate process- Pipeline planning- Regular cross functional project team meetings etc.
  • Lead and coach a team


  • 10+ years of brand marketing and business experience (i.e. creation of brand strategy and annual operating plans- commercialization of new product launches- understanding of business/category levers (4Ps)- owning agency relationships and creative direction- coaching and developing teams)
  • Demonstrated leadership- ownership- winning as a team and drive for results
  • Resiliency to deal with ambiguity and lead through change to disrupt
  • An undergraduate university degree in business is required- MBA is considered an asset
  • Proven experience in core brand building role at the portfolio level- managing large advertising and brand budgets ($18MM+) Strong experience leading a direct team and influencing/inspiring partners (both internal and external)  
  • Track record leading breakthrough innovation from ideation to execution & developing robust pipeline strategies
  • Experience turning ideas into reality- working with multiple fluid team structures requiring trust- integrity- influence & a solutions-oriented mindset
  • Highly creative- superior communications and collaboration skills- including verbal- written and presentation working both internally and externally
  • Strong passion for and understanding of consumer behaviour and motivations
  • Proven analytical skills - gathers critical data- translates analysis of an opportunity to resulting volume and financial goals- develops POV and recommendation with ability to simplify
  • Strong understanding of the P&L
