Position Summary

The Associate Director- Global Press Room is a valued consultant to business leaders within Kraft Heinz. 

This role will report to the Vice President- Global Corporate Brand Communications & Reputation Management- and is responsible for creating and implementing a proactive global corporate press room to bring the company brand narrative and identity to life with external media (traditional- social).

We are looking for a communications and media relations leader to identify and propel relevant stories for the Kraft Heinz Company. This person is a talented individual with a proven track record of developing media strategies- delivering media placements and is a team player who can drive successful media campaigns- events and develop compelling storytelling angles. This position supports and partners with global internal stakeholders at Kraft Heinz- including but not limited to Operations- Growth/Marketing/Brand- DI&B- ESG- HR/Talent and Zone Communications.

This person will have/need to develop relationships with key- targeted global and national media in a variety of areas including consumer goods- food & beverage- lifestyle- innovation- and business/financial- including targeting top media contacts and developing a relationship management plan. They will have an extensive storytelling acumen- with an ability to creatively execute through written- verbal/broadcast/video- digital- or social media avenues.

This person will build an always-on news engine/press room to demonstrate the KHC transformation journey by mining for and identifying compelling points-of-difference found in collaboration with Zone Communications- BUs and corporate leaders. The news engine will provide a regular cadence of corporate and brand stories highlighting our strategy and transformation in action. The news engine will keep KHC and brands front and center in relevant- timely trend coverage- while elevating our proactive media relations to reach all key stakeholders with positive Company news.

This person will use data and insights to identify relevant white space where/when the KHC story can be told. They will be responsible for driving our corporate brand content strategy and creating a library of photography- b-roll- and other assets that can be used as media/social media collateral.

This person will ensure that all communications reflect the Company’s core values and advance Kraft Heinz’s business strategy. In conjunction with the CCO- they will work closely with Kraft Heinz’s human resources and marketing departments to drive the overall internal communications strategy and create and assure consistency of messages that reflect and promote the company’s value and corporate goals to employees.

This person with manage and mentor a team- agency partners and build relationships with stakeholders internally to drive best-in-class internal communications for KHC.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop a global press room strategy and goals to proactively generate media coverage for KHC and elevate the Company in the minds of all stakeholders.

    • Identify target audiences- including but not limited to consumers- investors- customers- and current/future employees to ensure targeted content- pitch angles- etc.

    • Create a content strategy to ensure quality and stories that match the mission- vision and values of KHC- including owned and unique images- video- broll.

  • Partner in development and launch of a corporate brand narrative- and use the outcome to drive ongoing cadence of KHC storytelling.

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key global and national media; conduct regular outreach to key media to secure top-tier placements.

  • Meet regularly with key internal stakeholders (BUs- Zone leaders- executives- etc.) to solidify relationships- better understand business progress/find examples to demonstrate Company strategy- narrative to feed ongoing news engine storytelling.

  • Help shape the Global Communications perspective on media; recognized as a media expert for all KHC Communications team members globally.

  • Develop a strategic plan to elevate and activate KHC corporate social channels- in partnership with Employer Brand and Global Corporate Communications leaders. Identify opportunities to use these channels to break news- elevate executive visibility and corporate brand narrative storytelling.

  • Stay on top of news and communications trends in the industry.

  • Work with CCO and Global Corporate Brand VP to develop monitoring and measurement process- to include qualitative and quantitative goals/measures.

  • Act as company spokesperson for the company on designated topics and respond to media inquiries.

  • Serve as communications expert on corporate (B2C) projects and programs as part of our Company strategic transformation.

  • As necessary- recommend appropriate communication vehicles and methodologies to drive desired behavior and more effectively reach target audiences. 

  • Serve as manager and mentor for at least one direct report and liaison for WHQ and Zone external communications teams globally- helping to ensure seamless execution of company programs in multiple markets and globally message consistency.

  • Manage relevant agency/partner/vendor relationships.

  • Spearhead a communications effort that will instill a sense of urgency- cohesiveness and teamwork in Kraft Heinz’s workforce and inspire confidence and credibility among stakeholders.

  • Ensure that all communications reflect the Company’s core values and advance Kraft Heinz’s business strategy. In conjunction with the Global CCO- they will work closely with Kraft Heinz’s human resources and marketing departments to drive the overall communications strategy and create and assure consistency of messages that reflect and promote the company’s value and corporate goals to all audiences.

Qualifications

Domain Expertise

  • 12+ years of working experience working in a newsroom- public relations agency or in-house strategic media relations environment.

Experiences

  • Experience in leading and managing cross functional teams.

  • BA in Communications or equivalent.

  • Strong communication skills with comfort in speaking with business stakeholders. High degree of personal and professional savvy and experience to inspire confidence among audiences at all levels of the organization.
