Description & Requirements


  • Responsibilities include leading projects related to cost engineering for the Canadian Zone. Cross collaboration with various functions (Regulatory- Quality- Food safety- Marketing and Operations) and US Zone is required to collect data to facilitate product formulation- process- manufacturing and competitive teardowns. 
  • Conducting lab- pilot plant and large-scale tests within manufacturing facilities to optimize formulation and/or process is required as well as ensuring technical documentation is prioritized.
  • Provide R&D expertise- conducting plant trials- investigations of new opportunities- maintaining Kraft Heinz specification database- qualifying new processes and ingredients- and overseeing product launches and first productions.
  • Having a detail oriented mindset with strong project management skills is a must- along with the agility to proactively plan and organize complex sets of data and projects simultaneously. This includes data collection- designing and executing tests- analyzing data- drawing conclusions- documenting- communicating results and commercializing product reformulations. 
  • The applicant should also possess excellent analytical skills and knowledge of process analysis- communication and leadership skills- computer skills (Microsoft Office). General knowledge of food quality (HACCP) and food manufacturing principles would surely be an asset.  
  • The candidate must also have a technical background and be able to apply prior learning or scientific principles to new situations.
  • The candidate is expected to lead his or her projects and exhibit a collaborative mindset to apply innovative solutions.
  • Interface with all related technical experts and US category scientists to understand technologies and applications.
  • Manage technical timelines- provide clear and timely communication- raise issues and risks- and develop contingency plans leveraging strong project management skills
  • Write specifications that deliver consistent- high-quality products.
  • Maintain technical documentation.


  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s is a Plus) - Food Science- Chemical Engineering or similar degree
  • Minimum 1+ years Product Development Experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Bi-lingual French and English is required.
  • Self-motivated problem solver and the drive to deliver objectives in a complex environment.
  • The ability to plan- put together well thought out design of experiments- anticipate next steps and incorporate course corrections when hurdles appear.
  • Executional excellence- personal leadership and customer focus is a must
  • Ability to learn new products and processes quickly
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Understanding of ingredient interactions/functionality
  • Willing to Travel up to 15%.  Travel could include (but not limited to): Toronto (corporate HQ) and/or US to internal plants- co-manufacturers- and suppliers.
