Description & Requirements

The Category Leadership Lead runs a large team of Category Leadership Advisors / Category Leadership Analysts to provide business insights and category development recommendations to assigned Kraft Heinz Customers and their merchandising organizations. The Category Leadership Lead aligns with the CVP- the Customer Leadership Team and- regularly- the AVP- and identifies and addresses new and existing business opportunities across all assigned categories and customer formats. The Category Leadership Lead ensures that customer- consumer- and internal information are used to build knowledge and stories will improve overall category performance and results.

The Category Leadership Lead must exercise financial prudence while managing a Market Research budget for their team’s customer data from $1.5B Annual performance reviews of vendors in addition budget reviews and submissions are led by the Category Leadership Lead.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Identify root causes of customer issues and opportunities and deliver compelling stories to drive action to address
  • Run the CL team- managing CL Advisors / Analysts to develop personally and professionally and partner with their assigned accounts
  • Category Leadership representative in senior level strategic customer meetings and interaction- e.g.- JVP meetings.
  • Steer the identification of category / customer business opportunities- develops actionable recommendations- and supports customer business teams in execution.
  • Establish team customer category priorities that are consistent with goals and objectives as defined by the customer and Kraft Heinz.
  • Develop impactful customer-specific category development recommendations in support of key business building initiatives.
  • Expert in leveraging multiple inputs including syndicated data- shopper card and household panel data that support compelling stories that spur business recommendations and actions on the key sales controllables of distribution and assortment- innovation and aisle strategy
  • Able to educate- apply- and advise on category management best practices.
  • Develops and integrates consumer- shopper and retailer insight to better inform targeted strategies- plans and decisions
  • Integrates data from a variety of sources to develop impactful customer specific selling stories in support of key category business building initiatives.
  • Develop compelling customer-specific category stories and recommendations in support of key business building initiatives
  • Run the identification of category / customer business opportunities- develops actionable recommendations- and supports customer business teams in execution

Expected Experience & Required Skills: 

  • Proven experience in Category Leadership
  • Solid coaching / people development skills
  • Strong deductive / problem solving capability 
  • Strong syndicated and panel data knowledge 
  • Space management software skills 
  • Good project management and prioritization skills 
  • Ability to comprehend and sell space management concepts within the context of category management 
  • Strong personal computer skills especially Microsoft Office products 
  • Solid written / oral communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Team leadership experience required

Office Collaboration & Hybrid Work Environment
