Job Overview

The Customer Category Manager (CCM) is responsible for the selling efforts with their assigned customer as a member of a Customer Business Team (CBT). The position represents Kraft Heinz to the Customer’s Category Management and Buying Office personnel. The CCM manages assigned categories and responsibilities effectively and acts as a liaison between Kraft Heinz CBT and the Customer’s HQ Team. They will be responsible for all the selling activities across the Kraft Heinz portfolio for their assigned customer. The CCM delivers revenue and share objectives- pursues business strategies to grow the company franchises through the use of customer-specific programs- provides category management expertise to the customer- ensures that coordinated cross-functional sales value is delivered to the customer through implementation of the sales plan and shelving objectives. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Effectively penetrate the customer to build rapport at all levels and to fully understand the customer- their business- and the marketplace
  • Builds Kraft Heinz business with the customer. Measured by profitability achievement- share gains- revenue targets- special programs- new and core item introductions/distribution
  • Develops tracks- analyzes- evaluates and develops business plans based on Business Unit/HQ- customer strategies/initiatives and external factors
  • Drives efficient and effective trade programs to deliver best ROI and administers volume and trade promotion spending levels within budget while managing trade dollars as percent of revenue for maximum results
  • Leads regular category & business reviews with the customer category managers & key account management personnel to affect positive business growth.
  • Leads and/or assists with major business reviews and customer visits- including annual reviews and “top‐to‐top” meetings
  • Leverages available resources/scale to elevate executional excellence across cross functional business planning in category mgmt.- supply chain efficiency- technology- local marketing to facilitate growth
  • Understands and utilizes insight information- both internal and external (competition)- to build total customer profits and plans
  • Achieve CBT New Item Authorization and Distribution goals with their assigned customer.
  • Achieve promotional revenue objectives by tactic- price point- Drive Period & Selling Event for their assigned categories and customer.
  • Effectively execute Kraft Heinz pricing strategies for all assigned categories for the customer.
  • Work with Retail Team to effectively manage retail execution of all assigned category objectives for the customer.
  • Manages seamless communication with the customer on delivery/service
  • Operates with a Growth and Winning mindset to deliver results
  • Creates a culture that recognizes rewards and encourages personal growth through empowerment and innovation
  • Facilitates cross‐functional experiences that builds knowledge base of employees for future growth

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in customer management- account management- and/or retail sales management for a CPG company. 
  • Superlative interpersonal skills (written- verbal- presentation); ability to work within a Customer Business Team framework.
  • Experience in effective customer management and selling to achieve objectives.
  • Strong financial acumen-understanding of profit- revenue drivers and ROI analysis
  • Proficiency in deploying and managing trade

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Strong sales background with excellent understanding of business processes and systems
  • Ability to work independently and to plan- organize and set/achieve priorities when performing work.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the Customer and gain their trust and respect
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills; Use and understanding of syndicated data; develop comprehensive business plans by analyzing category and brand performance and influences customer to achieve category objectives.
