Description & Requirements

Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor- this position maintains- repairs and installs electrical equipment in support of production activities.  Shift worked for this position will vary based on business need.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Troubleshoot and locate electrical problems in machines- equipment- controls and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair high voltage electricity 4160-110/208/220/277 & 480 3-phase
  • Make necessary repairs in the shortest time possible.
  • Troubleshoot PLC’s- VFD’s and instrumentation using computer laptop with the required software.
  • Perform installations in compliance with National Electric Code.
  • Design- Construct- maintain- and repair electrical power systems- i.e. install conduit- boxes fittings- pull wire- etc
  • Perform tests and calibrations using electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Using the SAP Work Order system – initiates purchase order for parts- and machines and creates and documents hours worked on applicable work orders.
  • Assist in plant projects- building and utility repairs and fabrications not limited to plant equipment- building- fabrications- dock doors- & dock levelers- etc
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Sate of Texas Electrical License or proof of successful completion of Electrical Apprenticeship or 4 year college degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology and 5-7 years minimum experience as an electrician in a manufacturing environment or acceptable training.

3-5 years Hands on Experience needed

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules- operating and maintenance instructions- and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to study/read manuals written for specific machines to be repaired or make ready for operators.  Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as amps- watts- voltage- proportions- percentages- area- circumference- and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written- oral- diagram- or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to read electrical prints and diagrams. Experience with various electrical testing equipment and with all voltages used throughout the plant. Thorough knowledge of National Electrical Code. Proficiency with PLC’s- VFD’s and instrumentation.
