Work Schedule:

Weekly Rotating Shifts for Production Employees- Monday through Friday.  Shift start time depends on the department- but weekly rotations begin on 3rd- 2nd- and then 1st shift.

Job Overview:

The Electronic Technician must be able to install- troubleshoot- repair- modify- calibrate- make adjustments to and be responsible for- electrical- electronic- and pneumatic process control systems and devices used in production- office- and utility areas. This individual must also interact and influence decisions made concerning the types of equipment implemented- and the methods of application with venders- supervisory and maintenance personnel- as well as other employees. 

This person is responsible for the safe and proper operation of fork trucks- man-lifts- hand tools- hydraulic and electrical powered portable and stationary tools of all types.

Scope of the Job:

The Electronic Technician must be willing to work toward the ability to install- troubleshoot- repair- modify- calibrate- make adjustments to and be responsible for- electrical- electronic- and pneumatic process control systems and devices used in production- office- and utility areas. This individual must also interact and influence decisions made concerning the types of equipment implemented- and the methods of application with venders- supervisory and maintenance personnel- as well as other employees. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Applicant will be trained in the skill set to perform:

Able to evaluate electrical theory and operating principles of major and minor electrical components such as- but not limited to- low and high voltage circuit breakers- fault indicators- transformers- motors- motor starters- relays and switches. Set up- operate- and use hand tools- air and electrical powered portable hand tools- machine tools- and a wide variety of electrical- electronic- mechanical and pneumatic precision testing and measuring devices. Must work in a responsible manner- aware of accountability and safety of equipment- plant personnel- and process control systems. Work includes- but is not limited to- the troubleshooting- testing- repair- replacement- adjustment- calibration- and cleaning of system components and devices. Must modify and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controller circuitry using lap-top and personal computers to read and write electrical/electronic ladder logic and other electrical/electronic programs.  Must accept the training necessary to maintain and upgrade his/her technical abilities. Set up- operate and read precision testing and measuring instruments to the instruments’ manufacturer's specifications and accuracy.  Such devices consist of but are not limited to: ammeters- voltmeters- ohmmeters- gages- recorders- and capacitor analyzers. Work from both written and verbal instructions.   Install- troubleshoot- repair- modify- calibrate and make repairs or adjustments based on that diagnosis using repair parts- by correcting existing parts or by innovation to select substitute parts. Do periodic PM's to all system controls. Must own and maintain the minimum required quality and quantity of personal hand tools for use on the job as instructed by your supervisor. Employee must work under all plant safety guidelines such as; Lock out tag out- Arc Flash- etc.

Quality:

           

Follows plant G.M.P’s. Installs all electrical/electronic equipment in accordance with the National Electrical Code- Minnesota Electrical Laws and Rules- and local ordinances.

Equipment Operated:

This person is responsible for the safe and proper operation of fork trucks- man-lifts- hand tools- hydraulic and electrical powered portable and stationary tools of all types.

Lifting Requirements:

Moderate: Handles medium weight materials (20 lbs. frequently; 50 lbs. moderately; may lift objects up to 100 lbs. occasionally.) A moderate amount of working from ladders- on top of tanks- inside small access spaces- and removing heavy equipment in small areas.

Working Conditions:

Fair: Noise levels occasionally above 90 dB while working around filling machinery and refrigeration compressors.

Moderate safety hazards are present: Possible electrical shock while working on equipment and systems operating at up to 480 volts. Occasionally works in wet environments.

Training:

Applicant will be taken through various training on all aspects of electrical knowledge and skills.  This will consist of  in-plant and out-of-plant training seminars on items such as microprocessors- electrical/electronic devices of many varieties- and pneumatic controls.

Applicant shall be evaluated quarterly.  They must demonstrate a progression toward the skill set of an Electrician.

Required Pre-requisite:

Mechanical skills and a basic understand of electricity.
