Description & Requirements

Based In Melbourne- The Commercial Finance Analyst will provide commercial support to the Head of Finance for our Retail- Foodservice and Exports team across different areas such as Finance analysis and month-end reporting- Financial Modelling- Financial Planning and Process Improvements.

About the Role

  • Assist with Month-End reporting using variance & root cause analysis to explain actual performance vs. internal benchmarks (i.e. Budget- Forecast- Prior Year). Ensure results are clearly understood and communicated to key stakeholders through commentary and Price Volume Mix analysis.
  • Assist with monthly Financial Forecast & annual budget submission by preparing inputs and carrying out analysis including engaging with key stakeholders to ensure Forecasts are up to date and accurately recorded in the system.
  • Work alongside Sales- Trade Finance & Controllership to monitor trade spend vs. internal benchmarks and trends over time. Ensure discrepancies are rectified to ensure reliability and completeness of data in the GL & Forecast.
  • Partner with Sales to assess and financialize Risks & Opportunities in order to close gaps vs. plan.
  • Add value by ensuring cross functional teams receive timely information which supports the business in better decision making.
  • Make recommendations around business process improvement in order to improve efficiency & free-up resources.
  • Assist in other ad hoc requests including financial modelling / scenario & sensitivity analysis.

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting- Business/Commerce or related discipline.
  • 2+ year’s work experience that involves analytical training / financial business partnering. FMCG experience is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen to assess data and arrive at root cause- with ability to succinctly explain key drivers to senior audience.
  • Understanding of ERP / Planning systems and dataflow is an added advantage.
  • Must be comfortable working with large complex datasets to identify- fix- transform- upload and prepare data for the purpose of presentation.
  • Passion for accuracy and high working standards.
  • Can-do attitude and eagerness to make a positive impact.
  • Excellent communication and business partnering skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite; Excel & Access
