Definition / Purpose

The Financial Controller will have a broad range of responsibilities controlling all aspects of corporate accounting and accounting operation- financial reporting and internal control activities mainly for Japan and Korea. Team management of Japan and Korea accounting / controlling functions with 2 direct reports of Japan Financial Controller and Korea Finance Manager. Full team structure under these 2 direct reports are Japan Accounting Team- Japan Operations Team and Korea Finance Team. This position will be directly reporting to Financial Controller ANJ & Asia (APAC) with dotted lined to NEA Finance Director in Japan.

Responsibilities

➢ Oversee all aspects of procure to pay- order to cash and record to report for the region. Manage all accounting operations including Billing- A/R- A/P- GL- Cost Accounting- Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.

➢ Support and drive the timely and accurate monthly- quarterly and annual books close. Stay on top of the reporting process- monitor adherence to close calendar. Timely communication and resolution of issues. Accountable for ensuring the books are closed and consolidated accurately across the region in accordance with the applicable policies and procedures for example revenue recognition- etc.

➢ Hands-on work for journal entries regarding accounting closing and GL maintenance.

➢ Review- analyze and report the key financial drivers of P&L- Balance Sheet and Cash Flow. Provide valuable financial insights of the region’s business and develop strategies to achieve region targeted goals and objectives.

➢ Participate in the review of financial performance of each BU/Country and provide relevant input as to the health of the financial statements and contribute to ensure that the region delivers agreed financial commitments.

➢ Lead key controllership projects to optimize financial processes/dashboards- improve systems to ensure a robust analytical framework and establish best practices in region.

➢ Facilitate effective communication of regional risk assessment process related to financial statement assertions- processes and controls. Timely analysis- communication- mitigation and resolution of risks and issues across the region.

➢ Drive Balance Sheet reviews and effective management of balance sheets to ensure integrity- full understanding of assets & liabilities and provide transparency of accounting records.

➢ Responsible for all fiscal reporting requirements; most importantly statutory accounts- corporate/business tax- Consumption Tax/VAT returns – ensuring completeness- accuracy & timeliness.

➢ Collaborate with auditing firms to ensure proper compliance with all internal and external regulations and timely completion of statutory audits. Work with the tax department and tax advisers to monitor tax filings. Ensure open Internal Audit points are successfully and timely closed.

➢ Ensure Compliance requirements are met - principally Sarbanes Oxley - within the region.

➢ Implement internal and financial control- including standardization of policies- procedures- analysis- reporting- etc. Perform internal control duties defined by Kraft Heinz policy and execute the SOX testing and take initiatives to improve the relevant business processes and to enhance internal controlling such as revising approval processes along with documentations.

➢ Ensure that fixed costs are booked and managed properly in conjunction with Kraft Heinz policy (Zero Based Budgeting) and track actual spending by team and encourage the management to take actions by providing insightful analysis. ➢ Responsible for dealing with Japanese/Korea statutory audit and tax inspection.

➢ Working closely with Finance Director and the senior management team to implement and drive on-going improvement in the business.

➢ Be a main contact point with regional- Zone and WHQ accounting controlling functions and ensure all the global accounting standards are met.

➢ Lead cross-functional projects regarding financial/ERP system implementation and enhancement and business process improvement where required.

➢ People management of all the functions and process improvement of the teams.

➢ Ensure to stay compliance with Japan Company Law.

Key Requirement/ Selection Criteria

➢ Qualified Accountant with minimum 6 years commercial & financial control managerial experience.

➢ Solid working knowledge of US GAAP- IFRS- Tax principles and SOX compliance.

➢ Outstanding working experience and knowledge of ERP and BI tools.

➢ Strong knowledge of Japan statutory accounting / tax regulation.

➢ Experience in working with overseas head office.

➢ Hands-on management. ✓ Excellent stakeholder management skills and possess a compelling ‘story telling’ presentation skills.

✓ Team player with exceptional work ethic and a positive attitude “can-do” mind-set and acting with sense of urgency to follow through on both operational and organizational issues.

✓ Successful experience in finance leadership and team management experience.

✓ University degree.

✓ Microsoft Office skills (Excel- PowerPoint are required).

✓ Fluency in written and spoken Japanese (native or equivalent) and English (above business level). Preferred Criteria

✓ Manufacturing industry (FMCG is preferred) experience.

✓ Experience in Big 4 audit firms.

✓ SAP experience.
