Position Summary:
The Global Head of Internal Controls is responsible for providing leadership to drive an effective and efficient control environment at Kraft Heinz. The position provides broad exposure to all levels of management- and you will act as a true Business Partner to ensure effective and efficient control activities- that balance risk and reward. This role will report into the Global Controller and based in Chicago.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for leading the Sarbanes Oxley program- including annual risk assessment- annual scoping and planning- testing/re-performance- remediation guidance and status communication
Maintains the global internal control framework- self-assessment of controls- fraud risk assessment and continuous control monitoring programs
Communicating across the organization to drive control awareness and accountability- including updating Senior Leaders on progress against the annual SOX plan and other Internal Control activities
Oversee the quarterly Management Representation Letter process- including compiling and communicating all exceptions identified via the process- as well as assessing the certifications and sub-certifications to address risks of the business as they evolve
Serve as the Coordinator for the Management Approval Committee
Partner with external auditor to support the integrated external audit
Lead the remediation of and report on identified internal control deficiencies
Provide leadership to the off-shore Internal Controls Center of Excellence to drive efficiencies in testing methods- including automation opportunities
Lead a team of 60+ controls specialists across business process- ITGC’s and automated controls
Periodically review and provide feedback on financial and operational policies
Support various Corporate project initiatives- reviewing process designs and approving end to end controls framework
Partner with various business leaders to provide input into business processes and controls and incorporate operational controls into self-assessment and testing plan
Use technology and data analytics to enhance effectiveness of internal controls
Identify opportunities for direct staff development through coaching and training; identify opportunities for and lead broader organizational training for internal controls to promote a culture of strong awareness of internal controls
Self-development through on-the-job coaching- special assignments- formal training- audit and control roundtable group discussions and regular staff meetings for sharing best practices
Qualifications:
Minimum 15 years of experience- including 5+ years in Big 4 in Finance/Accounting/Audit/Controls required
Experienced in leading an internal controls team in a global and complex environment
Exceptional leadership- master relationship builder and high level of discernment
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to influence across the organization and externally
Excellent and confident in communicating with senior level executives internally and externally
An orientation toward process and detail mindedness. Strong analytical and quantitative skills and superior accounting skills
Strong project management and organizational skills
BA/BS degree in accounting or finance; Advanced Degree in Finance- Accounting or Systems a plus
MBA or business related Masters Degree- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) are preferred but not required
Consumer packaged goods (CPG) or Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) experience are preferred
Willing to travel 10%
