Description & Requirements

Reporting into the Director- Global Internal Communications- the Global Internal Communications Manager (IT) is responsible for splitting their time between the Global Communications function and the Global Information Technology organization.

In this role- the Manager will play a key role in helping to transform our approach to strategic internal communications globally- specifically lending their subject matter expertise to the development of new internal communications channels and platforms. They will advise on how best to integrate new channels and platforms into our existing infrastructure- working with key stakeholders and partners across the business to ensure a seamless roll-out. They will also stay relevant on latest information technology trends and tools to ensure we deliver our employees a best-in-class user experience and engagement across all channels.

The Manager (IT) will act as a strategic communications advisor to the Information Technology function- helping to understand key priorities and advising on best communications approach / solutions- in line with our global strategy. They will act as a bridge between Global IT and Communications- bringing priority announcements- partnerships and change management needs to the global communications calendar and helping to deliver them in a timely- appropriate way.

Additionally- they will partner with the Global Information Technology organization as a priority audience- ensuring that important business priorities- announcements and news is cascaded in a timely- appropriate way (complementary to our global communications approach). They will develop IT communications strategies as well as serve as a subject matter expert for the IT Leadership Team 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Take a lead role in identifying and introducing new global communications channels and tools to deliver centralized and seamless communications globally- working with key stakeholders and partners across the business

  • Contribute to the global communications transformation by advising on relevant information technology tools and trends that can contribute to an improved employee experience

  • Partner with key leaders across the IT organization to better understand key business priorities and needs; act as a strategic communications advisor- providing recommendations and solutions to communications needs complementary to our overall approach to global communications

  • Working with the broader global communications team- help mine for relevant employee-led / IT-specific stories for use across multiple channels- internally and externally.

  • Ensure that key IT announcements and organizational updates are brought to the attention of global communications in a timely manner- and cascaded appropriately

  • Advise and support on IT leadership executive communications as needed- within our global communications framework

  • Deliver key communications and announcements specifically to the global IT organization- as a key priority audience. This includes- but isn’t limited to- stand-alone email announcements- IT-focused campaigns- written / video content on new systems and processes- and develop IT communications strategies as well as serve as a subject matter expert for the IT Leadership Team 

  • Understand IT related training needs and develop communications plans to support internal stakeholders. Also- partnering with the Head of IT End User Experience and IT HR to foster employee engagement.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in strategic communications-related experience and management- preferably within technology functions

  • Experience working with tech media would be an asset

  • Degree from an accredited college/university- preferably in communications- or a related field

  • Outstanding communication skills both oral and written- preferably with executive exposure

  • Strong messaging and graphic design experience translating technical speak for end-users in a clear- concise manner

  • Experience managing vendor relationships with graphic design and/or PR agencies

  • Strong business acumen- with analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong leadership and team management skills required

  • Ability to build cross functional communications network at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to present to senior leadership and large audiences
