Base Salary Range: $154,700.00 - $193,400.00

Target Total Cash Range: $278,460.00 - $348,120.00

Target Total Cash: Target total cash represents this role's annualized cash earning potential at target (base salary + target bonus). Target total cash is contingent on targeted company performance achievement and individual attainment of performance goals. Therefore, target total cash is not guaranteed earnings. In addition to base salary and bonus, this role is eligible for additional compensation in the form of equity.

Head of Brand Management & Strategy - Primal Kitchen at a glance...

The Head of Brand Management & Strategy is a key member of the marketing leadership team accountable for developing the overall brand strategies, customer and category leadership, and financial plan delivery.

This position will have ownership over Retail Strategy, Analytics & Reporting, Media Strategy, Brand Planning and P&L, and Portfolio Strategy. This role blends strategic leadership and execution to bring to life our short-term and long-term brand goals. This role manages a team of six and reports to the Head of Marketing.

What's on the menu?

Retail & Omnichannel Strategy:

  • Customer sales stories for new items, all categories, and all customers
  • Provide category leadership for key customers, attending meetings and presenting brand plan
  • Reporting and tracking of retail analytics
  • Analysis, approval and tracking of retail shifts (eg promotions, margin structure, etc)
  • Oversee the Omnichannel Marketing team to provide optimal support to retail partners, media buying and brand initiatives via Shopper Marketing

Analytics & Reporting:

  • Own the relationships for all our key data partners: SPINS, Nielsen, IRI, Numerator and more
  • Report weekly and monthly on consumption data and panel data
  • Report monthly to leadership in monthly business reviews on brand and category performance
  • Track all customer and consumer changes via panel and consumption
  • Owns insights and consumer testing

Brand Planning & P&L:

  • Manages brand forecasting routine by gathering and analyzing inputs across sales, marketing, operations, and external inputs to drive financial and operational modeling
  • Runs weekly and monthly routines for cross functional forecasting
  • Creates and manages customer and item forecasting for new and existing SKUs
  • Own, plan, and execute the revenue management strategy
  • Own and analyze the margin profile of the business and create strategies for improvement
  • Reviews and approves P&L decisions in partnership with Finance and Head of Marketing

Portfolio Strategy:

  • Develop multi-year forecast and propose required initiatives for success
  • Create and own the innovation and renovation pipeline (short-term and long-term) based on performance and insights
  • Provide recommendations and guidance on changes to claims and positioning for packaging and communications strategy
  • Fully brief the innovation and R&D teams on the concepts – flavors, size, formats, pricing – to deliver on the innovation targets
  • Create the GTM strategy for innovation – short-term and big bets
  • Test and learn with innovation to build the pipeline of the future
  • Partner with the Innovation and Product team to drive the execution of the brief and packaging briefing for the graphics team
  • Partner with Communications team on brand support strategies and consumer insights
  • Expand the brand into new channels and geographies with away from home and international partners

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related work experience
  • 7+ years in related fields in the CPG industry: category management/marketing, brand management preferred; Natural Foods experience is highly preferred
  • Ability to manage a team and help with prioritization, mentorship, and team growth
  • Must have experience owning and implementing brand P&L and revenue management decisions
  • Experience with media buying and omnichannel strategy
  • Must have an advanced skill set in building and optimizing within Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong numerical and analytical skill set with the ability to interpret quantitative data and manage communication of data across the organization
  • Proficiency with using multiple information sources for developing a demand forecast, i.e., orders, shipments, consumption, weeks of supply, revenue management, distribution, velocity, and more
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a proven ability to work collaboratively across departments within Primal Kitchen and organizationally between Primal Kitchen and Kraft Heinz
  • Entrepreneurially mindset with an eye on both short and long-term strategy and the ability to see the full wholistic view of business

Office Collaboration & Hybrid Work Environment

We believe our office environment fuels our collaboration, connection & community as an organization and allows our employees to grow toward greatness.
