Description & Requirements

We are looking for a Head of Legal Iberia to join our driven and growing team in Madrid! The position reports into our General Counsel, Europe & Pacific Developed Markets, with a dotted-line report into the Managing Director Spain & Portugal, and is the business partner for the Iberia team, providing commercial and pragmatic FMCG related legal advice, all to help the business achieve the company goals.   

In this role, you build relationships with our sales, marketing, category, HR, finance, regulatory and factory teams, as well as the General Counsel Europe & Pacific Developed Markets and the legal teams across our zones.

In brief, you take ownership of:

  • Providing practical and innovative, high quality, legal advice in relation to: Contracts & General commercial law, Labour law, IP, Corporate Governance, Competition law, Data protection, Media and advertising, Regulatory.
  • Ensuring that the Kraft Heinz businesses and brands are protected and to facilitate the achievement of the business goals.
  • Being the strategic business partner with proactive legal support and outstanding problem-solving skills.
  • Taking an active part in decision-making related to legal and commercial matters to ensure that the agreement/strategy is fit for the business’ needs.
  • Drafting, reviewing and supporting the negotiating of sales contracts and a broad variety of other contracts.
  • Contributing to internal knowledge development by developing and maintaining templates, trainings, toolkits and standard methodologies.
  • Provide legal advice on innovation, product labelling and marketing campaign projects, including on intellectual property under local regulations and advertising standards compliance.
  • Collaborating closely with and managing (i) outside counsel(s) and (ii) when needed public authorities.
  • Handling (potential) claims, disputes and litigation.

Qualifications

Must haves to be considered for the position:

  • Qualified Spanish lawyer
  • At least 5-7 years demonstrated experience in the FMCG industry, preferably with commercial and competition law knowledge
  • Excellent Spanish and English proficiency
  • Excellent legal education with top academic credentials and training in a leading law firm and/ or company

Hard skills

  • Confident in handling a broad range of legal matters where both legal expertise and commercial pragmatism will be invaluable.
  • Excellent work management skills and legal judgment with the capacity to make decisions and give advice that reflects an understanding of overall business objectives and the risks/rewards of each situation under pressure.
  • Strong research and drafting skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a non-legal audience, both orally and in writing.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal direction and a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment that requires management of multiple projects simultaneously whilst also being a great teammate.
