Description & Requirements

As the Head of Design you will lead the Design Chapter of Kraft Heinz’s Digital Revolution (DR) to build Kraft Heinz’s first holistic- product-centric Design capability. The Design Chapter includes UI/UX designers- design thinking coaches- service/journey designers- user research- design operations- and other design disciplines as appropriate. In this role you will: 

  • Champion the very best of design thinking- research- and user experience for all products in Kraft Heinz’s Digital Revolution 

  • Establish a design thinking center of excellence to consult with the broader Kraft Heinz enterprise to creatively solve business problems and identify business opportunities 

  • Bring the capability to high-impact areas like Whitespace and Disruptive Innovation of next generation of Kraft Heinz products 

  • Facilitate design thinking on special projects (e.g.- strategic leadership problem solving) 

  • Work with the Digital Revolution leadership team to establish the design language and brand guidelines for DR products that can be used consistently across digitally products 

  • Construct a user experience research capability to inform designers and the agile pods on the best practices for B2B- B2C- and Enterprise product design 

  • Determine and implement the appropriate technology stack (e.g Figma- Invision- Sketch- etc.) to enable the Design to team to do their best work 

  • Serve as a member of the Digital Revolution leadership team- reporting to the VP of Digital Transformation 

  • Define the Kraft Heinz way of Design Thinking as a capability- shape the learning curriculum/credential in the broader corporation in partnership with our Transformation Office 

  • Closely partner with Kraft Heinz’s Marketing and Creative teams to ensure the design language and brand guidelines of the Digital Revolution are complementary to the enterprise brand 

  • Contribute to the strategic roadmap of Digital Revolution opportunity areas (OAs) at Kraft Heinz from a design perspective 

  • Recruit- develop- and retain a talented team of designers- coaches- and researchers as well as a partner ecosystem 

  • Evaluate the necessity to create a design operations capability to maximize the impact of Design across the Digital Revolution and deploy it as appropriate 

  • Manage the Digital Revolution Design budget including headcount and service provider spend 

  • Help create a collaborative workspace for innovation and digital teams in our US Office 

 

WHO YOU ARE 

 
  • Previous success building and leading design teams that have shipped noteworthy innovation – both digital and non-digital products (preferably food) 

  • Prior track record of activating this capability at scale across the enterprise 

  • Orthogonal thinker with a relentless focus on intuitive- simple- and human-centric design 

  • Deep understanding of how to establish a design thinking CoE to consult across a business 

  • Proven track record of working in and with cross functional- agile teams 

  • Demonstrable ability to lead in a matrixed- enterprise environment 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Computer Interaction- Design- or similar disciplines or equivalent practical experience 

  • Prior success in a design leadership capacity as part of a digital transformation effort preferred 

  • Known quantity within the design community with previous speaking engagements and publications preferred
