Description & Requirements

We are seeking a proficient and professional Indirect Tax specialist- with VAT experience across EU jurisdictions to join the financial controlling team based in Amsterdam. We are looking for an individual with specific VAT Compliance and Account Management experience who will be responsible for managing multiple VAT registrations across the Kraft Heinz EU region (e.g. Netherlands- Belgium- Germany- United Kingdom and IE- Spain- Poland- Italy).

Knowledge of the new rules related to environmental taxes (e.g.- plastic and packaging taxes- carbon measures- consumer taxes on alcohol- sugar- etc.) is preferred as this is a growing area of focus for the Indirect taxes team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the VAT European Indirect Taxes Manager in the day-to-day functions related to the management of VAT compliance duties in cooperation with EMEA Finance departments and VAT Global Business Services (GBS) located in India
  • Collaborate with GBS VAT members by ensuring the appropriate data reviews and checks have been completed prior to the timely submission of monthly/quarterly VAT- INTRASTAT & ECSL returns for all EU entities ensuring that they accurately reflect the transactions within tax reporting and timely payments request are raised to Treasury when required
  • Co-ordinate responses to be given to Tax Authorities in case of declaration queries and VAT audits
  • Assist the VAT manager in advising EU financial controllers and analysts on the implementation of upcoming VAT legislative changes such as Making Tax Digital- new SAF-T obligations- etc.
  • Participate in SAP regression testing related to VAT rates changes/new implementations as required
  • Support the VAT manager in handling any ad-hoc VAT requests raised by the business
  • Complete VAT tax classifications for new finished goods/raw materials/packaging
  • Monitor and check if accurate VAT codes are included in open POs and amend them if needed
  • Collaborate closely with internal VAT Consultants with regards to data reviews and complex VAT issues should they arise

Experience- Knowledge- Competencies and Skills required

Experience/knowledge

  • 2+ years’ experience in a Financial Accounting department
  • Proven knowledge of VAT and experience partnering with internal and external VAT consultants
  • Experienced SAP user and highly proficient in Excel
  • Ability to understand the double entry for the integrated system-driven accounting postings
  • Ability to work in a dynamic organisation- embracing change and working independently
  • Fluent in English- other languages are a plus!
