Description & Requirements

We are looking for an experienced communicator to fill the role of Lead- Employee Communications.

As Lead- you will play a central role in driving understanding of our company’s business strategy across our global employee population- and embedding our company’s Purpose- Vision and Values into their lives.

Reporting into the Global Internal Communications Director- you will help develop and execute a central communications strategy- built on collaboration with key global stakeholders and Zone communications leaders. You will use cultural and audience insight in your thinking- helping to develop a communications strategy that builds trust- instils organizational clarity and positively engages employees throughout their Kraft Heinz experience.

Your key stakeholder audience will be our global People & Performance leaders- including International and North America Zone HR leads- Benefits & Rewards leads- Talent & Acquisition leads and Learning & Development teams.

You will act as a strategic communications partner to this audience- advising on appropriate messaging- tone and deployment of sensitive announcements (e.g. personnel changes and global organizational announcements) and key people moments (e.g. performance review cycles- employee engagement surveys- globally relevant trainings)- within our global communications framework.

Working with the broader global communications team- you will also help mine for relevant employee-led stories for use across multiple channels- internally and externally.

You will advise a Sr. Communications Specialist on the execution of key communications routines- including updates to stakeholders- local engagement campaigns and employee announcements- providing oversight and quality control. You will play a key role in managing employee engagement channels and inputting into the development of a centralized internal communications strategy with the Global Director.

You will also work closely with agency partners- in-house content creators and key business stakeholders outside of P&P. In conjunction with the Global Director- you will help build a global community of internal communicators- engaging stakeholders and comms leaders around the world.

You will lead by example with high quality- smart and creative work. You treat your teammates with respect and kindness- and are a proactive- self-starter who gets excited by a great idea (and are willing to roll-up your sleeves to make it happen).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Global Internal Communications Strategy

    • Support the Global Internal Communications Director in auditing current internal comms/employee engagement platforms- messages- and tools to determine best-in-class approach for employee communications

    • Contribute to the development of a global communications strategy- gathering employee and cultural insights to inform approach and brainstorming creative ideas

    • Help cascade strategy to comms leaders and key stakeholders- supporting Zone comms leaders in localization for their markets

    • Oversee the execution of key employee communications / P&P focused projects within the global strategy- working with a Sr. Communications Specialist to ensure quality and excellent execution globally

    • Reporting into the Global Director- contribute to the strategic approach- materials development and execution of key employee events including global Town Halls- leadership conferences / global convention- leaders calls/briefings and global engagement moments (e.g. Employee Engagement Survey)

    • Contribute to research on communications tools that will help improve global employee communications quality- content and insights- adding value to Zone communications teams as well (e.g. email tracking software- etc.)

  • Content Development

    • Develop key messaging- content and creative assets as needed to support P&P priorities within our global communications strategy

    • Working with the broader communications team- help build an ‘always on’ content engine featuring employee profiles and unique people-focused stories for use internally and externally

    • Help ideate and produce additional content on key topics including- but not limited to employee engagement surveys- learning & development- appraisal cycles- etc.

  • Stakeholder and Team Management

    • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the global business and within the Zones- supporting the Global Director in building a global comms community

    • Liaise with global P&P functions including (but limited to) Zone HR leads- Benefits & Rewards leads- Talent & Acquisition leads and Learning & Development teams- advising on appropriate timing and tone of messaging as it relates to the larger global communications strategy 

    • At times- ghost write for key stakeholders and executives (e.g. speeches- scripts- presentations)- ensuring consistency of messaging internally / externally

    • Act as a mentor to junior team members- helping to manage priorities and workload

    • Help drive an understanding of our business across the wider comms community- with internal comms as a key strategic enabler

    • Support on the day-to-day coordination and rituals & routines of the team


  • Significant experience managing internal and/or external communications- corporate communications- and stakeholder engagement- ideally in a fast-paced global commercial organization or in a client-facing role

  • Degree level education- with a background in public relations- journalism or marketing

  • 8+ years of experience working in a communications function

  • Experience and comfort level working with P&P/ HR- with an understanding of the unique needs this function has 

  • Strong project management and leadership skills- with outstanding organizational and planning abilities

  • Strong communication skills- both written and verbal. You must have a strong command of the English language and the ability to simplify complicated messages

  • Comfortable communicating with all levels- and able to instill confidence in senior stakeholders and peers

  • Skilled in dealing with sensitive- complex and confidential issues and situations

  • Commercially astute and able to align your objectives with that of the wider business

  • Self-motivated- able to work autonomously: a bias for action- reliable

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet demanding deadlines- while maintaining high standards of quality

  • Strong intellect- flexible and adaptable- stimulated by challenges- and open-minded with a strong desire to learn

  • Confident bringing new ideas and rolling up your sleeves to get it done; comfortable with failing- learning and growing
