About the Position

We're seeking an experienced Legal professional to make a difference at Kraft Heinz as Chief Counsel for our International Growth function. As a member of the International legal team reporting to the General Counsel- International- you will also be part of the International Growth Team under the leadership of the Chief Growth Officer (CGO) who will be your primary business partner. The position is based at Nijmegen- with a certain degree of flexibility required to collaborate with colleagues in Amsterdam- London and across the international zone.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be the Legal business partner to the Chief Growth Officer and other Growth leaders (VP R&D- Category & Brand Build Leaders) with proactive legal support and superior problem-solving skills
  • Provide Brand Services to both categories (Sauces and Meals) as well as the Brand Build team including claims review- food law- nutrition & health claims and advertising requirements
  • Support the R&D center in Nijmegen with day-to-day legal support- facilitate innovation harvesting and IP protection in close cooperation with the global IP and patent teams- advise on freedom to operate and other potential growth barriers in the technical IP field- advise on cooperation projects with suppliers and R&D innovators
  • Protect our brands and IP assets in close cooperation with the global Trademark team- advise on trademark protection and maintenance- bridge strategic counseling to Global Trademark team- lead IP litigation and anti-counterfeit measures internationally;
  • Be the go-to-counsel on digital transformation (including digital marketing) and e-commerce (ie. Amazon) within the International legal team- advise on consumer privacy- 1st party data and consumer insight implications;
  • Lead ground-breaking growth projects into adjacent categories including new partnerships with 3rd parties or franchise/ license arrangements from a legal perspective.
  • Drive our ESG agenda and commitments- work closely with our dedicated global ESG teams- R&D and other partners in the region.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified lawyers with upwards of 10 years’ experience with commercial and IP matters
  • Excellent legal education with top academic credentials and training in a leading law firm and/ or company
  • Excellent work management skills and legal judgment with the capacity to make decisions and give advice that reflects an understanding of overall business objectives and the risks/rewards of each situation;
  • Strong research and drafting skills and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a non-legal audience- both orally and in writing;
  • Learning agility and strong organizational skills;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal direction and a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment that requires management of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to build relationships and influence across all levels within the organization;
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally on an as-needed basis.
