Scope of Job:
The Velveeta Lift Truck Operators primary responsibilities include: Proper selection and timely delivery of powder totes- Scanning ingrediants for proper Consumption & Traceability. Assist with unloading powder totes & powder room training. This position will also have knowledge of Velveeta cheese types to assist the barrel room and support CB1 unloading. This person must have a valid fork truck license. Must be able to plan ahead and anticipate the needs of the line for efficiency in the department. While working as a team member- this person will on occasion coordinate the work of others. This person generally works without clost supervision and receives brief verbal and written instructions. The daily operation of the job is moderately varied and requires good communication. This job requires simple addition and subtraction skills.
Job Responsibilities:
Production:
Review production schedule for proper varieties running that shift. Learn Velveeta Powder types. Knowledge of coolers and bay numbers. Identify ticket codes and numbers. Transport empty color drums- rings and covers to Dock. Direct Miscellaneous Laborers as to what powder to prepare. Operate powder-handling equipment. Be proficient with all aspects of SAP. Scan powder and cb1 to PPC correctly – repeated missed scans will lead to discipline up to and including job disqualification. Follow FIFO – First in/First out.
Sanitation:
Assist in general housekeeping and sanitation activities with the department. Assist with weekly final sanitation.
Maintenance:
Must be able to perform minor mechanical adjustments such as changing the forks and proper battery changing. Must have a clear understanding of lift truck intended uses – having the correct truck for the correct job.
Safety:
Must drive responsibly and always yield to pedestrians Must complete lift truck inspections each shift and document.
Quality:
Must have a safe and proper attitude toward their fork trucks at all times. Proper powder delivery – to correct hopper. Follow and know good GMP’s. Proper knowledge of powder ingredients.
Lifting Requirements:
Moderate lifting and moving of drums and pallets. Must lift loads above 8 ft. with fork truck.
Working Conditions:
Noise level is high and requires hearing protection. Working temperatures range from 40 to 70 degrees.
Training:
The fort truck operator is trained for 3 weeks and is expected to be 90% competent after 3 months with all areas of the job and other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
