Description & Requirements

A Line Technician needs to possess knowledge in areas of equipment capabilities- safety- product specifications- team building- team leading- and certified in all line jobs.  The Line Technician’s specific duties may include- but not be limited to- the following:

Filling of a specific position on the Line or Crew. Adjustments to equipment- product or supplies through the natural process variation to promote maximum efficiency. Aiding Supervision and other Line Employees in the training of new employees to the line- department or plant. Being thoroughly versed on all matters pertaining to Safety in the Job- Department and Plant. Ability to perform calculations of process measurement to include but not be limited to yield- utilization- overfill- inject pick up or nonconformity rates. Communication to all appropriate personnel regarding tasks that needs to be accomplished in order to maximize efficiency. Filling in for Line members for unplanned relief or to help troubleshoot a problem. Hours of work would be as appropriate to cover normal Line running hours.  Overtime pay would be according to current labor agreement and MOA.  Other duties as assigned to maintain and orderly and efficient operation.

The Line Technician role is not intended to issue discipline or directly cause discipline to be given.  This role is intended to be the leader for the line operation and its employees for the designated shift to ensure safe and efficient operations. 


  • Ability to communicate effectively with teammates and management- including leading DDS/green room meetings
  • Ability to learn and apply product and packaging acceptability standards
  • Ability to shift schedule as needed to accommodate set-up- end-of-run- training- and/or problem-solving
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and sense of urgency for each required check
  • Ability to work independently and lead team to continuously improve through teaching and coaching
  • Ability to walk and stand for the full duration of the shift
  • Ability to work all required overtime
  • Ability to work in refrigerated work environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 24 pounds
  • Proficiency with using computers to correctly and efficiently record results and create documents as needed

Skills and Qualifications (Training will be provided and proficiency will be expected in the future):

  • Leadership:  Capability to lead a team and deliver the targets required.  Basic skills on situational leadership- conflict management- effective coaching and personal development.
  • Technical:  Ability to execute maintenance procedures not only PM but also AM related without help.  Basic operation- adjustment and repair of the line assigned.
  • Loss Elimination:  Ability to identify and eliminate losses in the line assigned.  Can use troubleshooting techniques and RCFA.
