Description & Requirements

The Maxwell House International Coffee (MHIC) Technician operates and assists in repairs of equipment. Responsibilities include tasks associate with the Packing Area- Processing Area- Receiving and Shipping Area.   Must be able to drive a forklift- and be able to utilize the computer for basic computing functions.  Equipment owner and responsible for the sanitation of general work areas.  Accountable for maintaining standard weights and meeting overall product quality standards.  Knows and follows all facility safety requirements.  Be able to function in an environment that requires constant change and continuous learning.  MHIC Tech 1 will utilize the Kraft Heinz Management System (KHMS) concept which includes daily cleaning- inspection- lubrication- and re-tightening of critical components of machinery- overall sanitation of line on scheduled frequencies. Active team member of the work cell to improve OEE value and daily efficiencies through reducing equipment stops- identifying sources of contamination (SOC)- defects and line losses and working to eliminate each of those losses and upgrades to standard work methods.   

Responsibilities include:

1.  Quality

  • Maintain all 5S programs in work area.
  • Perform daily TPM activities: Cleaning- inspection- lubrication- and re-tightening of critical components on equipment.
  • Clean entire line on scheduled intervals.
  • Use of Quality Suites to enter all quality checks as required and directed.
  • Check for hold restrictions prior to dumping raw materials (scan before dumping).
  • Sample raw materials for quality analysis- and ship the sample to Corporate Quality.
  • Collect and ship flavors standard samples as necessary.
  • Report any “out of spec” product.
  • Inspect equipment/procedures for defects and report defects to the proper people.
  • Comply with all procedures and specifications to ensure product safety and integrity.
  • Comply with all QCMS (Quality Chain Management System) procedures.
  • Maintain GMPs and PPE standards.
  • Place raw and packing material on hold and release when authorized.
  • Maintain an understanding of departmental regulatory requirements.

2.  Cost

  • Gain knowledge and support the KHMS process to identify losses and make improvements to the line to improve “stops” and efficiencies.
  • Identify equipment SOC’s and work to eliminate losses.   Suggest improvements to help reduce costs and improve procedures.
  • Comply with all procedures to help reduce cost and eliminate wastes.
  • Complete Kaizen events as assigned as a team member.
  • Complete Root Cause Failure Analysis’s (RCFA’s) when needed.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of key measurements and cost drivers.  Make go/no go decisions for ensuring people safety and product safety and quality.

3.  Delivery

  • Maintain green room KPI boards- daily activity board and Loss boards.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the production process and production schedules
  • Execute pits stops as scheduled.
  • Complete Dice Board RCFA as part of PM Card and breakdown elimination
  • Assist quality- operations and maintenance in troubleshooting both production and sanitation.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of Quality- Cost- Delivery- Safety- and Morale (QCDSM).
  • Participate and/or facilitate Green Room meetings in compliance with the DDS plan and agenda.
  • Must be able to demonstrate work processes (DF- CIL- OPL- Standard work- SOC- HTR)
  • Safely Load / Unload trucks as necessary.
  • Operate all equipment on the pack floor to include D Palletizer- Filler- Sealer- Capper- Case packer- Shrink Wrapper- Case Labeler and Palletizer Top Sheet Dispenser and Wrapper.
  • Operate a Fork Lift- maintain current license- and complete all safety checklists as required
  • Use SAP to execute Catalyst responsibilities.
  • Properly receive raw material- identifying the material on the floor and in SAP.
  • Properly store and stage raw materials for processing in warehouse areas.
  • Be able to properly start and stop all equipment on the packaging floor and know how to safely.
  • Be able to perform minor maintenance on equipment as defined in Autonomous Maintenance.
  • Remove all jams on equipment.
  • Utilize systems to document equipment down time.
  • Keep work station Log Book updated.
  • Assist as needed in operation of all packing and process equipment.
  • Assist as required in leading process control to include all EI functions up to and including change over as trained.
  • Be able to properly execute all Receiving and Shipping functions to include COA verification and proper communication with Logistics.
  • Perform packing changeovers when necessary and calibrate the check weighing scales as appropriate.
  • Pull a pick list for shift production.
  • Execute “first in / first out “for raw material usage.
  • Break down and re stack pallets of raw material to ensure segregated lot requirements.
  • Perform processing changeovers and the staging of raw materials.
  • Read production schedule and use that information to set up the raw bins.
  • Properly identify raw materials prior to dumping and properly remove that material from inventory in SAP.
  • Perform end of shift duties- including general housekeeping of work area you are currently stationed in and other areas as assigned.
  • Properly store- label and distribute material designated for animal feed.
  • Perform shutdown and startup of the department using applicable check sheets.

4.  Safety

  •  Keep work cell clean and free of debris (5S).
  • Report all Incidents and Near Miss immediately to Department Leadership.
  • Complete Safety Behavioral Observation’s  in support of the Plant’s Behavior Based System (BBS).
  • Complete Quick Risk Predictor (QRP) and Line Risk Factor (LRF) in support of  Plant’s safety system.
  • Understand Safety Maps for equipment and complete Safety Maps when needed.
  • Comply with all corporate- plant and department safety rules.
  • Collect and ship environmental samples as required.
  • Support and participate in Kraft Safety and Risk Management program. 
  • Complete all required monthly Safety Training on time
  • Follow all guidelines pertaining to production procedures in order to insure a safe workplace.
  • Maintain departmental good housekeeping standards up to and including- vacuuming- dusting- etc.
  • Maintain safe environment
  • 5.  Moral

  • Know and understand basic concepts of “Integrated Lean Six Sigma” and High Performance Work Systems
  • Partner with IL6S Pillars as a department representative when designated.
  • Demonstrate Equipment Ownership- Area Ownership- and/or Work Process Ownership
  • Complete Individual Work Plan annually- participate in quarterly meetings with manager.

6.  Training

  • Complete standard work and Kaizen event training.

  • Complete and communicate One Point Lessons (OPL’s) when appropriate.
  • Complete and participate in improving step up cards for IL6S
  • Complete all IL6S training
  • Complete all required quality training as outlined in the Plant Quality Training Grid.
  • Attend and maintain all required safety training.
  • Attend and participate in plant floor training as it relates to job duties
  • Perform duties as assigned.
