Description & Requirements

In this role- you will be joining our Culinary & Consumer Science Department that is made up of Chefs- Sensory Scientists- Consumer Scientists- and Food Scientists with a passion for food and innovation. We shape and influence food facing innovations by combining a creative approach and our technical knowledge to connect our consumer and product opportunities. We pride ourselves on being the expert culinary connection to food and cooking within the marketplace. We are looking for a “consumer-obsessed” culinary professional to join our team – someone who is creative- strategic- independent- collaborative and who can execute with high attention to detail and effective communication.

This is a hands-on culinary R&D role- under the guidance of a Sr. Manager- responsible for providing thought leadership in culinary strategic planning- innovation pipeline development- and expertise through sensorial insights into the consumer experience- food trends- and culture.

Job Duties:

  • Demonstrates understanding of culinary basics: the principles of cooking techniques- product characteristics- safe food handling techniques- food & nutrition- and ideation.  Understands how to apply consumer food insights- sensory attributes- and principles effectively into project work to guide decision-making.

  • Applies agile Ways of Working and mindset to connect consumer growth opportunities with product innovation using best-in-class design thinking. Demonstrates openness to think and do things differently and take risks. 

  • Demonstrates basic understanding of functional ingredients and their application within developed formulations or as needed for Culinary Concept Development. Utilizes culinary techniques to translate culinary gold standards into commercial products in partnership with R&D.

  • Develops- applies- and guides others in culinary research approaches to translate food trends into actionable strategic presentations and innovation concepts that are focused on a consumer target.

  • Leads the planning- development- and execution of culinary projects such as competitive landscape reviews- immersions- recipe /content development- package directions- performance testing- and culinary events with the guidance of a Sr. Manager.

  • Develops well-written and consumer-driven recipe strategies and partners with marketing as a media content and photography consultant and other marketing communication needs.

  • Effectively master the use of internal systems including proprietary recipe database- and other R&D systems- and an understanding of consumer nutrition guardrails and editorial best practices.

  • Exemplifies strong creative skills and collaboration with cross-functional partners.

  • Demonstrates strategic thinking- clear communication skills- consistent attention to detail- and proactive ownership across all assigned work.

  • Works well in a team environment- able to balance multiple and/or shifting priorities- and flexes to provide support to colleagues as needed.



  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the culinary field

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience corporate setting

  • R&D and Agile Innovation Methodology experience is preferred

  • Excellent culinary skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields

  • Excellent communication (written & verbal) and influencing skills
