This is a Research and Development (R&D) role leading product development and scale up of new to the world concepts in our Glenview- IL Kraft Heinz Innovation Center. The successful candidate will execute independent projects which demonstate proof of concept- develop prototypes- conduct technology scale up trials- validate ingredient technology in model systems and applications- conduct consumer testing- and recommend actions plans to commercialize technologies. This includes basic understanding of the business need- commercialization- designing and executing tests- analyzing data- drawing conclusions- documenting- and communicating results to both technical and non-technical audiences. Proven communication and collaboration skills are essential in this role.
KEY COMPONENTS OF THE ROLE:
Design- support- and execute benchtop and pilot plant trials- then summarize and translate results clearly for technical and non-technical teams
Adapt and apply scientific principles to new situations/products with a moderate degree of autonomy
Demonstrate the ability to learn new product categories and processing areas
Perform proof of concept formulation and product development across multiple categories
Identify and communicate high level implications of proof of concept results in relation to financial impact- scale up risks- and timeline
Communicate with suppliers and internal & external partners
Work with cross functional teams to lead and support projects from concept to commercialization- including Marketing- Operations- Quality- External Manufacturers- and Procurement
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of B.S. degree in Food Science- Chemistry- Biology- Engineering- or related fields
Minimum of 2 years in technical function
Product development- scale-up- and commercialization experience
Experience with flavor- taste- and sweetener ingredient technologies and applications preferred
Strong understanding of ingredient functionality and interrelationship of ingredients- process- and packaging
Strong understanding of Design of Experiment- laboratory experimentation- scale-up- and data analysis
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to make connections to the big picture
Excellent project management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to build strong relationships and network
Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
