Senior Accountant, Core Accounting at a Glance….

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team and take on the responsibility of overseeing the unclaimed property process, provide accounting support for an export legal entity and other areas of Core Accounting, facilitate the month-end close for North America, and perform other ad hoc duties as requested. This position will report to the Manager of Core Accounting within the North American Controllership.

In this role, the Senior Accountant will be the liaison between Kraft Heinz and our third-party unclaimed property administrator. Tasks will include ensuring that all unclaimed property has been identified, properly recorded in the General Ledger, and reflected in our tracking software. The Sr. Accountant will also review and approve returns and payment requests to state agencies and property owners. Other support will be needed as requested from our administrator.

In addition to unclaimed property, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing monthly accounting entries and reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial statements. This will require cross functional collaboration with domestic and international teams, such as Global Business Services (GBS), Legal, and various other Finance and Accounting groups. During the month-end close, the Sr. Accountant will oversee the progress of close, facilitate allocation assessments within SAP, and help to diagnose issues as they arise with IT and the business. Other ad hoc duties will be required as business needs change.

What’s on the menu?

  • Assist our third-party administrator with updating unclaimed property records, performing due diligence, and reporting to the states
  • Perform accounting and reporting tasks to support the month-end close which includes entering transactions, preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accruals, and assisting with analytical reviews of consolidated results
  • Review and approve reconciliations for appropriateness and quality
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders on open item remediation
  • Drive process improvements through automation and developing procedures for addressing issues
  • Maintain processes and procedures to ensure accounting, reporting and controls are in compliance with US GAAP and Kraft Heinz policies
  • Support financial audits including internal, external, and SOX
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Core Accounting team

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA a plus
  • 2+ years’ experience in corporate and/or public accounting
  • Experience with SAP and Blackline a plus
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage, and prioritize multiple projects, while operating in a fast-paced, complex, global organization
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and conflict management skills

Office Collaboration & Hybrid Work Environment
