Description & Requirements

Position Summary:

The Senior Finance Director- North America Manufacturing Finance serves as the direct finance leader of the largest and most complex part of US Operations and has influence over all US Cost.  The role is the driver and voice of finance for total US cost- leading monthly close process (including analysis and reporting)- and development of the annual budget and five year strategic plan.  In addition- the position supports productivity efforts within manufacturing operations and facilitates the Ops to BU’s financial routines and reporting including monthly reviews.  This individual provides overall financial and reporting support to the VP- Head of North America Supply Chain Finance- the VP- Head of North America Manufacturing- and the Business Unit CFOs.  Additionally- this role owns the budgeting- forecasting- tracking- requesting- funding- results reporting- etc. associated with all projects within Manufacturing- including Capex- R&D- Business Development- Cost out- etc.

Primary Focus:

  • Manages ~100 college degreed professionals- including 2 Directors- across broad geographies in US and Canada
  • Supports and Interacts with Vice President level employees on a day-to-day basis
  • Is point of escalation for BU operations heads and BU CFOs
  • Is required to develop and deploy routines to drive efficiency- cost savings- and simplification
  • Manages $1.6B recognized cost in Manufacturing P&L and influences $13B total COGS
  • Occasional travel to the Manufacturing plants is highly recommended


  • Manage Manufacturing finance and drive strategic thinking to enhance Manufacturing reporting and visibility
  • Drive common practices across 34 Manufacturing plants
  • Provide senior leadership perspective and guidance (point of escalation) to BU heads of Ops Finance (Directors)
  • Provide BU Ops heads with reporting packages- and facilitate Factory to Pod reporting meetings
  • Support BU president and BU cost lead as key financial data owner
  • Establish and maintain reporting cadence
  • Review report submissions and challenge assumptions- commentary and forecasts
  • Support accurate P&L and publishing of financial presentations ranging from consolidated financials- flash reports- and other reports necessary to help drive optimal decision making.
  • Prepare standard and ad-hoc analysis- driving insight on business gaps to plan and benchmarks.
  • Lead the monthly performance review and annual budgeting process in Manufacturing
  • Serve as an advocate in financial planning and accounting matters (e.g.- financial reporting- cost allocations)
  • Support Business by providing ad-hoc and structured reporting mechanisms to provide insight into costs
  • Improve Finance capabilities in order to improve value to wider organization
  • Identify opportunities to simplify- align- and improve Manufacturing processes- procedures- organization structure and make recommendations
  • Engage in M&A work- special studies- cost optimization strategies


  • BS in Finance- Accounting- or Business Administration required- M.B.A. preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Finance/Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Finance or FP&A- preferably in CPG industries
  • Strong Technical and Systems orientation- experience with Hyperion and SAP desired
  • Strong business acumen- interpersonal- communication and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and make key decisions- managing multiple projects concurrently with limited direct supervision
  • Motivated self-starter who can effectively work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Possesses the ability to lead teams and effectively work through others- with the ability to influence cross-functional team members
  • Team player who manages collaboratively with the ability to influence management- in some cases without authority
  • Ability to recognize opportunities to simplify processes and create efficiencies
