Description & Requirements

About the role:

The main purpose of the role is to maintain continuity of labels between all of Heinz Wattie's products in New Zealand and Australia. This involves working with a variety of departments including Marketing- Product Development- FSQ and Regulatory Affairs. Day-to-day job activities includes the following:

  • Managing artwork update projects – which entails creation of ‘Label Information Briefs’ (using internal KH tool for development of label information) and  On-line artwork approval tool.
  • Creating label information- including NIP- ingredients list- allergens- nutrition and health claims for all products manufactured by Kraft Heinz in New Zealand
  • Determining product suitability for ANZ markets using my knowledge of the Food Standards Code
  • Working with external suppliers and internal functions to maintain our ingredient databases.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Australian Labelling Development and Compliance.
  • Provide and develop label and product information to support Product Development- Marketing and others to achieve market and product objectives.
  • Support Regulatory Labelling/ Compliance Projects- including P1044 Plain English Allergen Labelling – PEAL.
  • Complete and keep up to date PLS for Private label customers to ensure accurate and compliant labels for KH for Key Business partners- Coles- ALDI- Woolworths.
  • Request ingredient information from vendors following the Kraft Heinz Company Process. 
  • Review ingredient information in alignment with other departments such as Food Safety and Quality- Research and Development Technologists and Procurement to ensure the ingredients are fit for purpose and acceptable for the manufacturing site in which they will be used.
  • Monitor specification update progress and Participate in ensuring raw material specifications are updated in the KHC system.  (This will require close alignment with the Specification officer). Provide reports on status to the R&D Manager as required.

About you:

  • Accurate interpretation of the Food Standards Code (ANZFA) for NZ product categories
  • Awareness of allergen labelling and nutrition information.
  • Good attention to detail- the ability to work independently and manage workload with cross-functional teams.
  • Tertiary qualification in Food Technology- Food Science- Animal Nutrition or Science or related.
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ experience in in a Product Development Technologist or Regulatory Affairs role is preferred.
  • Strong understanding- working knowledge/experience in Product Development- Systems and Specification Management.
