Description & Requirements

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

  • Overall project leadership for strategic Capex investment projects within the Latam region (Mexico and Costa Rica)
  • Management of multi-functional project team and steering committee- working closely with site and function leadership teams
  • Budget responsibility on specific project.
  • Overall responsibility for delivering projects ‘on time in full’ (OTIF).
  • Lead region engineering design team- using Agile techniques to formulate project designs that can be used and issued to suppliers for initial budget and final pricing and order placement.
  • Develop Preferred Suppliers in the Region together with the Capex procurement team.
  • Complete Capital Engineering feasibility studies within the Latam zone.
  • Support the International Engineering Development team in creating Engineering Standards and Specifications that complement the equipment design and can be utilized for project feasibility and execution phases of projects to improve speed of execution.

Key Activities

  • Lead the multi-functional Project team- through regular team meetings- and engage Commercial and Technical stakeholders to ensure efficient running of the team.
  • Lead project Steering- ensuring senior management are updated on project progress and able to support the resolution of issues and roadblocks.
  • Lead Feasibilities Studies for major Capex investments for Capacity- Innovation and Cost Improvement and novel technologies- across the Latam Zone- working closely with S&OP- Supply Chain Development- R&D and FS&Q- with the intention of making more timely decisions.
  • Create standard engineering project designs and Capex estimates for major capital initiatives working together with Region capex leads and their local teams.
  • Define project goals- objectives- scope- milestones and deliverables.
  • Complete full feasibility analysis- including all aspects of the project- in line with company stage gate process.
  • Report project progress to all levels within the organization- locally- regionally and internationally.
  • Provide leadership and direction to workstream project managers and functional leads.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate submission of cost estimates- project plans- gate documents- CARs- etc- as required by KHC processes and routines.
  • Apply and- in conjunction with International Capital Engineering Team- strive to continuously improve company Project Management Processes to enable effective project completion.
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements with the project team and resource management.
  • Document- communicate and manage risks- assumptions- issues and dependencies to avoid project delays or cost overruns.
  • Ensure project risks are assessed- managed and mitigated as part of the project plan.
  • Ensure change management & change control procedures are followed including the escalation of change issues that impact on the project fundamentals of safety- time- cost- quality and scope.
  • Ensure Early Equipment Management process is used to drive an efficient and effective transition from project implementation to production- ensuring failure modes are anticipated and prevented prior to commissioning with a vertical start up.
  • Ensure all functions build and deliver a comprehensive training plan for roles to be impacted within a project (e.g. Operators- Team Leaders- Engineers- Maintenance- R&D- QA- EHS- Logistics).
  • Deliver project post implementation reviews and communication of results up to KHC board level.

Hard Skills

Attributes and Experience

  • Track record of successful project delivery in an FMCG Supply Chain environment- with a degree or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experienced in managing- supporting- and challenging multi-functional team of indirect reports.
  • Ability to navigate the complexity of delivering significant change within existing large-scale manufacturing sites and greenfield locations- with dependency on multiple internal functions and third parties.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Capital Project Management roles with budget responsibility of >$5MM.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Capital Project Management roles within the food and beverages industry.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
  • Effective communicator at all levels- from shop floor to board level and relays information in a timely manner- with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Knowledge- experience and gravitas to make recommendations and gain support of very senior stakeholders.
  • Outstanding presentation skills and ability to conduct effective meetings and presentations with large teams.
  • Oral and written communications including presentation to management forums and able to create concise and effective reports and written business cases for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Direct and indirect line management experience.
  • Ability to manage complex cross functional projects.
  • Experience in managing and mitigating risk.
  • Creative and pragmatic problem solver.
  • Demonstrable organising- influencing and planning skills.
  • Background in engineering- operations or a technical function within food manufacturing preferable- with some detailed knowledge of food manufacturing processes desirable.
  • Demonstrable skills obtained through food processing technology projects and working in a FMCG food production environment.
  • Experience of working with WCM (World Class Manufacturing)- LEAN or similar structured continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Numerical with sound budgeting skills and experience of project budget management and control.
  • Financial awareness to enable accurate assessment of project performance and business cases- including investment appraisals and profit and loss accounts.
  • Subscribes to a philosophy of Continuous Improvement- making recommendations as to how the team and processes can improve to deliver against company and department objectives.
  • Able to use experience and judgement to appropriately identify and effectively manage risks and develop contingency plans to resolve.
  • Ability to support the identification of engineering solutions which maintain or increase competitive advantage and support long term manufacturing strategy.
  • Computer literate including knowledge of web-based systems and comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows suite.
  • Project Management certification is desirable (e.g. Prince2).
