Plant Overview:
- 3-Shift Operation
- Non- Union Facility with approximately 200 hourly staff members which are a mix of temporary and full-time associates.
- 100% Food Service, 4 bag soup lines, 1 tub line, 18 Kettles, 5 Filling lines, and 4 packaging lines.
- Products include Frozen Soups and Macaroni & Cheese
Company History: Kraft Heinz in Cedar Rapids started as Ashby Soups and was originated in the mid 1980’s by Jamie and Shannon Ashby, along with their mother, using family held recipes for many kinds of soups. In the 1990s’ the name was changed to Quality Chef Foods. Heinz acquired Quality Chef foods in the mid 2000’s. In 2015 Kraft and Heinz merged to become Kraft Heinz as we know it today.

Responsible for facilitating Operational Risk Management (ORM) processes that include Safety and Health, Environment, Business Continuity, Facility Security, and Asset Conservation at a factory location in Kraft Heinz North America. The primary purpose of this position is to achieve compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and Kraft Heinz policies/procedures and processes.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Implement ORM strategies that align with corporate objectives to reduce/mitigate operational risk
- Use key metrics to illustrate and affect performance in ORM at the factory location
- Communication of ORM factory results
- Participate in the annual ORM conference, quarterly webcasts, regional meetings, etc.
- Liaison to collaborate with Factory Management and Supervision regarding incidents that could jeopardize the integrity of the brands
- Knowledge of applicable legislation (OSHA, EPA) and practices that impact the factory
- Ensure that the site adheres to applicable Kraft Heinz policies/procedures, processes, and operating principles
- Recommends new policies or procedures as necessary
- Coordinates and assists with the implementation of continuous improvement principles into ORM elements
- Responsible for Compliance Safety site training
- Provide training to management and employees to ensure that all recognize their contribution to improved ORM performance
- Ensure compliance with any ORM legislation
- Facilitates activities related to ORM controls
- Administers new and current processes and tools to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local ORM regulations and assists the factory with these requirements
- Implement the facility’s ORM Business Plans. Ensure action items are developed and implemented for process improvement
- Assist with Injury and Claim Management
- Assist in the Employee and Environmental Health pillar of KHMS
- Assist with the ORM portion of the plant Process Safety Management program
- Meet corporate deadlines and completion targets
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-years’ experience in safety and environmental management, preferably in the food industry. Prior experience with Process Safety Management and Risk Management programs preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA Regulations and Management Systems (i.e., ISO 14001, Safety Management Systems)
- Continuous Improvement Principles and Practices
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- Must be able to work in a safe manner.
- Must ensure quality products are being packaged.
- Responsible for following all Food Safety Policies and Safety Procedures. Responsible for Q-RMP standards implementation as defined by the accountability list document
