The Kraft Heinz Company is currently seeking a Line Tech to work at our food processing facility in Lowville, NY. Successful candidates must be willing to supply improvements suggestions and ideas to help continue the success of our facility. Ideal individuals must be safety and quality orientated along with demonstrate adaptability and willingness to work in a team orientated, fast paced work environment. This position requires individuals to perform general production duties in a food manufacturing environment following strict quality and safety standards.

Work Schedule:

The Lowville plant produces the legendary Philadelphia Cream Cheese! Built in 1971, the facility is over 400,000 square feet and houses 13 production lines. Milk and cream is supplied by local farms. With over 400 employees, the plant is one of the largest employers in Lewis County.

Job Overview:
This position is responsible for all equipment associated with the Cream Cheese and String Cheese Packaging lines, including performing activities related to repair, maintenance, and installation. Provide technical and problem-solving support for the line and plant. Support and complete plant specific maintenance strategies to achieve key performance goals. Assures preventative maintenance schedules are met and all issues are resolved and communicated in a timely fashion. Coordinate overall maintenance, quality and output for line. Kraft Heinz Management System (KHMS) participation is required.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Primary duties will include, but not limited to:
- Conduct basic repairs, equipment and process adjustments, and process checks to ensure effective set ups and changeovers, machine and equipment operation, quality of work and output.
- Monitors and maintains Processing Equipment (i.e. Coagulator, Homogenizers, Separators, Heat plates, HTST plates, Mix Proof Valves, and other Processing equipment).
- Leads and coordinates all Westphalia separator teardowns, homogenizers, heat plates, HTST systems, Mix Proof Valves, CIP parameters.
- Responsible for the KPI’s associated with the equipment, SAP accuracy for all associated equipment including BOM’s, maintaining and improving the OEE/GE Standards, maintaining budget for cost center, and equipment improvements.
- Work with maintenance planners to maintain up-to-date records of adjustments made on the equipment, using the SAP program and Processing PM program.
- Minimizes cost through innovation and initiative, and continuous improvement
- Will be involved with projects, budgets, R&D Trials, future equipment needs and preventive maintenance. Primary contact for R&D, programmers, contractors and project leaders. Works with programmers, contractors, vendors, and repair techs for PM support/coverage
- Responsible for implementation and ongoing maintenance of QRMP standards as assigned and actively completes performance monitoring audits in a timely manner
- Expectation to cross train on additional equipment to successfully provide coverage for planned and unplanned team absences. Off shift coverage may be required. Relief required for break coverage.
- Responsible for the overall housekeeping, assisting in the completion of period work, GMP’s in the work area, all maintenance activity relating to the equipment, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and rebuilds.
- This is a team-oriented position requiring active participation in establishing documented standard practices, change control, training, and performance metrics. This position will be expected to act as the team leader, support, maintain and train personnel.
- Understanding basic electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Willing and able to learn shop skills such as welding, machining, etc.
- All other duties as assigned.
Preferred Background
- 3-5 years previous experience in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and/or hydraulic fields is required. Understanding of predictive and preventative maintenance processes. Demonstrated leadership skills. Strong written, verbal, communication and presentation skills. Overall Kraft job performance and attendance will be evaluated
- Align with all Kraft policies, procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices. Maintain positive rapport with customers, suppliers, contractors, and other Associates. Participate on assigned teams; Support team decisions. Perform other duties as assigned by Manager. Must adhere to all site rules and to all ways of working processes and procedures within this role. Position requires timely Period Work completion. Team participation is required. All other duties as assigned.
Sanitation:
Will ensure that the equipment and machinery they work with is cleaned and sanitized according to the Kraft Heinz Sanitation Program rules explained at the beginning of the employment and during refresher sessions.
Quality Assurance:
Ensures all products manufactured align with the Quality Assurance Program and policies reviewed during the on the job training applicable to this specific operation function.
Safety:
Will follow the Kraft Heinz Safety Process and will keep themself and others away from harm while performing their duties. Will adhere to LOTO policy and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent experience or general education diploma (GED).
Must have strong interpersonal skills.
