About the Role
Job Description
Purpose:
The Pricing Analyst is responsible for analyzing and recommending pricing for existing and new products; as well as working cross-functionally on the creation of business cases.
Pricing Analyst job duties:
- Pricing and promotion:
- Set up pricing benchmarks for products (mainly Retail/ Key Accounts)
- Make pricing recommendations for new launches
- Build pricing architecture structure for key product categories
- Research the pricing structure of the Japanese market
- Align with Sales and Commercial Finance on DA allocation for products
- Review promotional activities and recommend best practices
- Track actual pricing to be in compliance with the pricing guidelines
- P&L and Business Case:
- Build unit P&L for products combining costing, pricing, as well as other pieces of information
- Lead Business Case creation with input from cross-functional team
- Oversee Business Cases archive and upload to corporate portfolio tools
- Costing:
- Work with Procurement, Supply Chain Finance, Quality, and SCM to collect all information related to the cost of products being sold
- Build assumptions on costing when not available
- Review cost fluctuation for portfolio
- Other tasks:
- Liaise with International stakeholders on Pricing and Revenue Management agendas
- Support Trade story making and other commercial activities
- Profitability analysis and portfolio optimization
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Business Administration, Finance and/or equivalent
- Experience in data-driven Commercial Roles (Sales, Finance, Revenue Management) preferred, experience in FMCG/Retail industry a plus.
- Strategic-thinker, capable of combining everyday activities with long-term plans
- Literacy in market intelligence databases (Intage SRI+, Intage SCI, etc.)
- Thorough understanding of or willingness to learn Japanese business principles and practices
- Japanese fluent/business communication skills, both written and verbal, and English business communication skills
- Leadership and cross-functional stakeholder management skills
Other desired skills:
- Excellent mathematical and Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with BI Tools (Tableau, PowerQuery etc.) a plus
- Integrity; honesty; understanding of data privacy standards
- Open-minded & multi-cultural mindset, ideally affinity with Japanese culture
- Superior attention to detail
- Problem-solving skills
