Job Description

The Kraft Heinz Company is currently seeking Process Owner to work at our food processing facility in Lowville, NY. Successful candidates must be willing to supply improvements suggestions and ideas to help continue the success of our facility. Ideal candidates must be safety and quality orientated along with demonstrate adaptability and willingness to work in a team orientated, fast paced work environment. This position requires individuals to perform general production duties in a food manufacturing environment following strict quality and safety standards.

  • A $1.00 shift differential for second or and $1.25 shift differential for third shift.

Work Schedule:

Schedule is based on 7 days per week production.

Plant & Community Overview:

The Lowville plant produces the legendary Philadelphia Cream Cheese! Built in 1971, the facility is over 400,000 square feet and houses 13 production lines. Milk and cream is supplied by local farms. With over 500 employees, the plant is one of the largest employers in Lewis County.

Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Operations Manager and with the support of management staff, the employee will follow these job descriptions as it relates to the job title. The employee will own results for safety, right the first time, compliance to plan, sanitation, labor cost, through put, yield, operating systems health, hard asset improvement and team improvement. The employee will actively participate in annual planning, weekly PDCA meetings, DDS meetings and daily level 2 meetings. Coaches and develops their team by serving as leadership coach and resource. Spends floor time collecting information on operating system health information.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides Management and leadership to deliver business results and operational improvements
  • Responsible for the day to day manufacturing needs for their assigned area.
  • Achieve safety, quality productivity, efficiency, customer service, cost and employee engagement objectives through both individual and team contributions.
  • Provides direction, leadership, development and support to process area through empowerment, team-work, on-the-job assignments, and continuous improvement projects and initiatives.
  • Develops, implements and promotes safety programs and safe work practices through involvement in plant safety team programs and initiatives.
  • Promotes sound employee and labor relations within process area by developing and maintaining an effective organization with qualified personnel.
  • Develops, promotes and supports continuous improvement and other cross functional initiatives.
  • Owns and Leads QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) standard as outlined in the plant accountability list.
  • Participates in team goal setting/implementation to ensure we are high quality competitive producer
  • Strive to enhance the efficiency of the plant/department by submitting and implementing process improvements.
  • Ensures the quality of our products and our workplace by following all procedures and guidelines.
  • Follow all established GMP, HACCP guidelines, Housekeeping responsibilities and QRMP operating procedures.
  • Assists in the implementation of the QRMP program.
  • Actively participates in team safety efforts to achieve/exceed plant goals.
  • Leads areas of change management and accountability.
  • Mentors CI Lead and Maintenance Lead to identify improvements and apply problem solving techniques.
  • Conduct annual plans for process improvement.
  • Participates in Maintenance planning.
  • Coordinate cleaning activities within the department and can conduct checks as needed.
  • Involved in plant optimization.
  • Provide /insure all explanation of all deviations in procedures and line process checks.
  • Maintains knowledge on completing appropriate paperwork for all areas and conducting respective inventories.
  • Maintain correct and accurate documentation for the payroll system.
  • Take leadership in routine production problem solving.
  • Coordinate period cleaning programs and monthly checks.
  • Ensure employee coverage daily with each shift.
  • Mentor and develop employees.
  • Can lead level 2 meetings, PDCA meetings and production meetings.
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifts to work with employees from all shifts as required.
  • Works overtime as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure all safety and quality guidelines are being followed.
  • Maintain legible, neat and accurate records and reports.
  • Must have leadership abilities, positive demeanor, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must understand the plant document and record control procedure.
  • Proven ability in planning/organizational skills and behavior which will supply to the overall team effectiveness.
  • Work well within a team environment as well as work effectively with all associates.
  • Capable of learning intermediate Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, Microsoft Word, Matrics, and ZPI skills.
  • Strong planning/organizational skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of requirements and importance of documentation.
  • Can understand and write WIs, SOPs, OPLs.

Preferred Background

A Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent experience. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.), SRM, Matrics, and SAP. Demonstrated leadership ability, excellent interpersonal skills, clear oral and written communication skills, manufacturing &/or supply chain knowledge. Ability to work in a challenging and flexible environment with expected overtime.
