About the Role

Job Description

Objective:

  • To be the ENGINEERING DIRECTOR WEEM, leading Operations Capex Strategy & Project Portfolio on time in full. Typically, this would be $150M per year, aiming to support the strong volume and transformation ambition in Emerging Markets for the near future. This involved capacity expansion through current installations, new factory development and support in acquisitions;

  • Lead the Engineering function supporting the business through this aggressive CAPEX execution and implementation;

  • To track execution of the Project Portfolio and agree changes, through rigorous prioritisation, weekly reports and monthly reviews with local, regional and global Leadership team;

  • To secure incremental Capital Investment by working closely with all the Emerging Market team and Global Engineering, also ensuring new proposals clearly prove the business case and project viability;

  • To develop and deploy FEL Project Management process and governance in each of the site that will be responsible to ensure engineering standards, procedures and KPIs for Capex projects across Emerging Market teams;

  • To identify and share across internally and externally, and globally where appropriate, best available technology and engineering practices;

  • Own the deployment and ensure the adoption of Manufacturing Playbook: directly owning the Engineering Pillar and related Engineering Project Management principles across emerging markets sites;

  • Support the development of the 5-year strategic Capex Master Plan for Emerging Markets, working with Supply Chain Development Category Leads, Manufacturing Directors, Procurement, Logistics and Package Sponsors, ensuring alignment with Zone category plans and corporate guidance, complete with impact on KPIs;

  • Own the process to generate the Capex Annual Operating Plan (AOP): ensuring alignment with Emerging Market Operations team, including sites managers;

  • Support to Category Leads, Heads of Supply, Site Managers and Package Sponsors in the development Site Master Plans (SMPs) that enable Kraft Heinz commercial ambitions in Emerging Markets through lowest cost manufacturing in a safe environment through optimum quality control and processes.  Time Horizon = 5 years.

  • To drive capex productivity and savings via:

    • Extending the strategic horizon to 5 years in Emerging Markets sites;

    • Clearly understanding commercial ambitions & linking to the Master Plan in Emerging Markets sites.

    • Optimising asset utilisation;

    • Standardisation of and development of preferred/strategic suppliers to enable Procurement to leverage scale and relationships for lowest cost & best service;

    • Contract engineering/project management optimised structure.

Key Activities/ Deliverables:

  • A 5-year prioritised investment plan by site (which enables Kraft Heinz commercial ambitions by addressing key legislative, risk management, growth, cost out and essential replacement requirements;

  • Capital projects designed to maximise operating income and factory efficiency whilst ensuring that all safety, quality and environmental requirements are met.  This will include a thorough evaluation of alternative courses of action;

  • Compliance with Health and Safety legislative requirements including Construction, Design and Management Regulations; Health and Safety at Work; Relevant external and company engineering standards; relevant Company procedures pertaining to Safety, Environment, Quality Assurance, Project Management, and Financial Accounting;

  • Accurate planning of capital project milestones and resources from concept to completion and integration of plans with all relevant functions and accurate forecasting and reporting of associated financial commitments including the identification of financial risks and opportunities;

  • Identify and develop opportunities for improvement to existing equipment, production lines and operating systems to maximise the efficiency and output of manufacturing operations which are aligned with corporate and site strategic goals

    

Skills (Knowledge/Competencies):

  • Experienced engineering projects manager experience across several supply chain technical roles (locally and regionally) within the FMCG industry, with a degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering;

  • Strong Leader and experienced engineer with a thorough knowledge of proven and advanced technology and with the ability to apply that knowledge practically to ensure competitive and innovative advantage;

  • Able to communicate and present technical Business Cases and Investment Proposals up to Vice President level (L2);

  • Highly numerate and financially aware to allow project financial analysis to be completed in conjunction with financial analysts.  Ability to identify appropriate project sensitivities and account for expenditure appropriately;

  • Excellent project management skills particularly, organizational, influencing and planning skills;

  • Highly competent oral and written communicator including and able to create concise and effective reports and written business cases for technical and non-technical audiences;

  • Computer literate including knowledge of web-based systems and comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows suite Ability to identify engineering solutions which meet the Company's need to maintain or increase competitive advantage, support long term manufacturing strategy, improve profitability, and provide opportunities for future strategic business decision making;

  • Subscribes to a philosophy of Continuous Improvement, making recommendations as to how the team and processes can improve to deliver against company and department objectives;

  • Able to use experience and judgement to appropriately identify and effectively manage risks and develop contingency plans to resolve.
