Consumer Experience Intern 

Start date: August 2025  

Duration: 5 to 6 months  

Platform/Project: Multiple Projects (please see below).   

Location: Nijmegen 

Basic Requirements for all:  

  • You should have strong communication skills and fluency in English, both written and verbal (Dutch is not a requirement but other languages are a plus) 
  • You are enrolled at a university for at least 50% study load for the duration of the internship. 
  • NOTE: EU working rights are required (Either you have EU Citizenship, you are studying in the Netherlands or have relevant student work visa)

Join the Kraft Heinz International Consumer & Culinary Experience (CCX) R&D team in Nijmegen as a Design Intern, where you'll be at the forefront of shaping how we embed design into the food experiences we create. This 6-month on-site internship offers you the opportunity to define and develop design principles across global and local innovation and renovation projects. 
 
You’ll work closely with the Consumer Experience manager, category leads, behavioral experts, sensory specialists, and design researchers—translating consumer insights into tangible design features that improve product, packaging, and communication experiences. Your focus will be on bringing design theory into practice, experimenting with tools like Figma and Loop to prototype both 2D and 3D ideas. 
 
You’ll contribute directly to Kraft Heinz’s broader strategy by helping to articulate benefit-led design principles derived from research and immersion and apply frameworks such as the MoSCoW method to prioritize impactful features. From organizing workshops to testing concepts in real-time, you will support the advancement of design culture across CCX. 
 
This role is ideal for a master’s student or recent graduate with a specialization in design, food experience, or culinary design, fluent in English and confident navigating complex, cross-functional environments. You’ll gain exposure to actual market challenges and deliver real business impact within the internship timeframe.

Pack Consumer Experience

We are looking for a passionate and curious Pack Consumer Experience Intern to join our Culinary & Consumer Experience team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on global packaging projects and contribute to consumer-centric innovation at Kraft Heinz. With this project, you will gain:

  • Hands-on experience working on global packaging projects with cross-functional teams 
  • Exposure to complex consumer learning and innovation processes at Kraft Heinz 
  • Opportunity to contribute fresh thinking to enhance existing CX frameworks and methods 

Key responsibilities:

  • Support key packaging design projects by shaping consumer learning plans and exploring new research methodologies to address project objectives. 
  • Identify trends and insights from past and ongoing consumer research to consolidate and draft pack innovation opportunities aimed at enhancing product usage experiences. 
  • Drive a consumer-centric approach to ideating and communicating new technologies internally, and translate them into actionable best practices for Pack R&D and CCX teams. 
  • Assist in refining and scaling CX frameworks and playbooks for effective Pack CX design across projects. 

Specific Project Requirements: 

  • Masters degree in Product Design/ UX Research/ UX Design/ consumer research or related fields
  • Strong skills in consumer journey mapping, communication, and data visualization
  • Had projects or classes in user experience, product design, design strategy and research are preferred
  • Prior exposure to design research and consumer insights is a plus
  • Graphic design and visual communication skills are preferred

Designing Food Experience Principles

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Consumer Experience manager, category leads, behavioral experts, sensory specialists, and design researchers
  • Apply design theory into practice, experimenting with tools like Figma and Loop to prototype 2D and 3D ideas
  • Contribute to Kraft Heinz's broader strategy by articulating benefit-led design principles derived from research and immersion
  • Apply frameworks such as the MoSCoW method to prioritize impactful features
  • Organize workshops and test concepts in real-time to support the advancement of design culture across CCX
     

Specific Project Requirements: 

  • Master degree in Design/ Food Science/ Marketing with design/ innovation specialty or related field
  • Classes or projects in user experience food, culinary design, design strategy and research, UX is preferred
  • Experience in using design principle in product/ UX work
  • Working with consumer insights or immersion with consumers and costumers is a plus
  • You possess a scientific, project-led mindset, follow timelines and set milestones, you are communicative and collaborative
