Work Schedule: 1st Shift – Primarily Mon-Fri

Plant  Overview:

  • 3 Shift Operation

  • Non- Union Facility with approximately 270 hourly staff members which are a mix of temporary and full-time associates.

  • 100% Food Service, 4 bag soup lines, 1 tub line, 18 Kettles, 5 Filling lines, and 4 packaging lines.

  • Products include Frozen Soups and Macaroni & Cheese

Company History:  Kraft Heinz in Cedar Rapids started as Ashby Soups and was originated in the mid 1980’s by Jamie and Shannon Ashby, along with their mother, using family held recipes for many kinds of soups. In the 1990s’ the name was changed to Quality Chef Foods. Heinz acquired Quality Chef foods in the mid 2000’s. In 2015 Kraft and Heinz merged to become Kraft Heinz as we know it today.

Job Overview:

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process.

  • Coordinate and ensure all PHA’s are performed as required.

  • Ensure PSM program is audit ready at all times.

  • Ensure monthly PSM team meetings are held and documented with meeting minutes.

  • Coordinate with Kraft Corporate and participate in 3 year PSM Compliance Audits.

  • Ensure follow up tracking is documented on all PHA recommendations to closure.

  • Ensure follow up tracking is documented on all Compliance Audit Exceptions and Recommendations.

  • Schedule and coordinate quarterly updates the facility manager and affected employees on all PHA open items.

  • Schedule and coordinate quarterly updates to the facility manager and affected employees on all Compliance Audit open Exceptions and Recommendations.

  • Assist facility SSE in managing the Hot Work Program and emergency response plan.

  • Ensure proper preventative maintenance procedures are written with detailed long text and revised as necessary on all ammonia equipment.

  • Ensure operating procedures are written on all ammonia equipment and are maintained current and accurate and updated as often as necessary.

  • Ensure operating procedures are certified annually to be current and accurate.

  • Assist in environmental issues related to the Ammonia Refrigeration System.

  • Provide PSM leadership across all shifts in establishing, organizing, planning and implementing PSM program and corporate ammonia initiatives.

  • Ensure Refrigeration Operators are trained and training is documented according to the Training Element.

  • Revise the facility PSM program according to Kraft Corporate PSM Team revisions. 

  • Ensure appropriate PSM documentation and procedures (i.e. MOC, Line Break, PHA) are followed on all ammonia projects.

  • Coordinate associated ammonia best practices across the plant and facilitate continuous improvement in the Utility group.

  • Participate in monthly Corporate PSM Coordinator conference calls.

  • Attend the annual Kraft Ammonia Safety & Best Practices Workshop.

  • Network with the Kraft PSM Team to remain aligned, up to date on information, and current on the direction being shared across all Kraft ammonia refrigeration facilities. 

  • Participate in PSM compliance audits at other ammonia refrigeration facilities.

  • Assists team with bringing equipment back to and maintaining base condition.

  • Leads root cause problem solving efforts on key chronic losses for the process.

  • Lead/Attend DDS Meetings.

  • Support continuous improvement by providing the leadership in driving “best practice” opportunities throughout the organization.

  • Participate in the QRMP yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions.

  • Accountable for the QRMP (Quality Risk Management Process) system and operational standards as outlined in the factory accountability list in order to achieve targeted RCR.

  • As necessary, other duties and/or projects may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • Education:  High school/ GED diploma required.  Associates Degree preferred. 

  • A minimum of five years working experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and associated PSM requirements is preferred.  Working and technical knowledge of refrigeration and maintenance systems, equipment installation/startups and plant utility equipment is preferred.

  • Experience working with vendors and contractors is preferred.  Individual must be knowledgeable of company safety policies and procedures.  Individual must have good interpersonal and team skills to function as a team member and leader.  Individual should have good organizational skills, be detail oriented, self-motivated and possess good leadership skills.

  • AutoCAD experience is helpful. 

  • Computer skills: Working knowledge of MS Office, including MS Word, and Excel.  Must know about Internet business models and technologies.

  • Strong and inclusive communication skills at all levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Excellent organization skills.

  • Language skills:  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.

  • Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Write process documentation, work instructions, routine reports and correspondence.

  • Solve practical problems; deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Follow instructions as directed.

  • Notify appropriate personnel on equipment breakdown.

  • Actively participate in the training and development of others as necessary or directed.

  • Keep work area clean and orderly.

  • Know the general plant layout.

  • Know and observe safety, security, quality, sanitation and personal hygiene requirements.
