Sanitation Technician

The Kraft Heinz Company is seeking a Sanitation Tech to work at our production facility in Mason City, IA. Ideal candidates must be safety and quality-oriented and willing to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to work overtime as necessary
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic math, excellent communication skills, and read and write proficiently
- Previous sanitation experience
- Familiar with the safe use of sanitation chemicals
- Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to acquire knowledge of chemicals and chemical concentrations to maintain adequate sanitation
- Understanding of CIP systems and valve actuation

Work Schedule:
- Core schedule is 40 hours per week, M-F
- Works overtime as required, including weekend coverage
- Flexibility to adjust shift schedule to work with employees on other shifts as required
- Required to work during plant shutdowns

- Products: Refrigerated Ready-to-Eat Jell-O gels, puddings and cheesecake
- Plant runs 24 hours a day / 7 days per week. This continuous process is supported by four shift teams with over 200 employees.

Job Overview:
The Sanitation Tech is responsible for executing periodic sanitation schedule (PSS) and master sanitation schedule (MSS) tasks to support a sanitary production environment. The Sanitation Tech is responsible for executing the floor drain cleaning, sink cleaning, and hose cleaning and assisting in various sanitation tasks. The Sanitation Tech will be responsible for assisting in CIP validations and passivation and titration of chemicals. This position will primarily work in hot temperatures and be exposed to a wet and dusty atmosphere. This position requires the use of additional chemical-resistant PPE while completing work duties.
Responsibilities & Duties include but are not limited to:
- Cleaning of drains according to plant master sanitation schedule
- Cleaning of sinks, hoses, and sanitation tools according to plant sanitation schedule
- Assists in plant performance monitoring
- Support allergen and CIP validation for all lines
- Ensure proper handling, labeling, and storage of all chemicals (primary and secondary), including validating new chemicals
- Support passivation of parts and new equipment
- Titrate CIP solution strength
- Train employees on best sanitation practices
- Follow safe work practices for chemical handling, equipment lock out tag out (LOTO), confined space, fall, and fire protection
- Observes all safety, environmental regulations, accident prevention procedures, food safety procedures, and GMP's
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (steel toe shoes, hard hat, ear plugs, glasses, face shield, gloves & other job-specific PPE (green rain suit while cleaning drains)
- Complete all other assigned tasks
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, & twisting
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
