Job Description
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Spicer and Glass De-palletizer Operator: Controlling the starting and stopping of the machine, un-jamming machine or box conveyor when necessary. Recognize and informs supervisor of any mechanical problems. Check jar blower equipment every 2 hours to check proper air flow. Initiates hand glass dump when mechanical problems arise. Fills spice hoppers with appropriate spice or garlic. Keeps work area clean. Washes jars returned to them and returns them to the line. Maintain proper flow of jars to pack area. Checks and records spice level in jars. Must wear safety glasses, head protection and hearing protection, and always follow all safety and GMP rules when running the equipment. Records, collects and analyzes data. Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor. Labeler/Tamper Evident Seal Applicator Operator: Control starting and stopping of labeler and tamper evident seal applicator. Supply and maintain labels in the labeler magazine. Supply and maintain film rolls in the tamper evident seal applicator. Assure proper glue flow. Control flow of finished product to case off machine. Unjam and clean glue heads when necessary. Unjam and clean tamper evident seal mandrill when necessary. Recognize and inform supervisor of any mechanical problem. Keep work area clean. Rework bad jars as needed. Must follow all safety and GMP rules when running equipment. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor. Capper Operator: Control stopping and starting of capper and control panel. Supply the cap sorter with proper number of caps and uses the correct cap for product being manufactured. Assure the closure of caps to the jars. Shut down equipment when needed. Recognizes and informs supervisor of any mechanical problems. Recognize when the metal detector equipment is activated and follow procedure. Perform routine calibration tasks as assigned by supervisor. Keep area clean. Clean briner screens every ½ hour. Check jars for leakers. Must follow all safety and GMP rules when running the equipment. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor. Solbern/Niko Operation: Control the starting and stopping and control panel of the machine. Assure the proper fill of jars after leaving the Solbern. Manually adjusts fill of jars after leaving the Solbern. Check for possible broken jars coming through the Solbern. Recognize and inform supervisor of any mechanical problems or jar breaks. Assure proper glass flow into the Solbern/Niko. Assure proper flow of filled jars to toppers. Must follow all safety and GMP rules when running the equipment. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor. Notify supervisor/Quality assurance of possible foreign object contamination. Bucket Line: Responsible for the set up of the bulk line. Control the starting and stopping of bulk line. Code date lids for he buckets. Assure proper pickle fill in the buckets. Assure proper brine fill in the buckets. Assure the proper lid closure. Recognize and inform supervisor on any mechanical problem. Must keep area clean and orderly. Must follow all safety and GMP rules when running the equipment. Performs all other duties assigned by supervisor. Case packer/Shrink wrapper Operating: Control the starting and stopping of the machine. Unjam machine or box conveyor when necessary. Recognize and inform supervisor of any mechanical problem Pull or inserts boxes when necessary. Reworks bad jars as needed. Must keep area clean and orderly and follow all safety and GMP rules when running the equipment. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SCOPE OF PROGRAMS AND OPERATIONS:
Visual application required to locate readily noticeable defects or make visual alignments. Supervisory decisions not required. Some dangerous conditions include moving parts on equipment, working with glass at high speed, operating of machines. Work environment may include water on floors, walking up ladders, temperatures of 50-80 degrees F, minimum drafts and a minimum degree of oder is involved. Perform work with moderate degree of dexterity.
EDUCATION/JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent.
SPECIALIZED JOB KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/SKILL LEVEL: Must be able to communicate in English and/or Spanish (written, orally and reading). Must be able to operate all production machines. Time required to learn them all. Must be certified by going through the Claussen training program.
