2nd shift Quality line lead

Job Summary:
The Quality Line Technician works in the Quality Department in a self-directed capacity. This Individual is responsible for daily oversight of quality standards and procedures by line production employees working closely with Supervisors and Line Coordinators. They set an example for other employees to follow. They can perform basic job functions of a Line Coordinator but will be given additional Quality training and responsibilities. The candidate will be trained by the Quality staff and be encouraged to perform all assigned Quality tasks to ensure a quality product is produced and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position is also accountable for KHMS FSQ standards as outlined in the Claussen Woodstock accountability document.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Represents and projects the Quality Department in a positive manner.
- Represents the department in various meetings within the plant (i.e. daily level 2 meeting.)
- Must be self-motivated and be able to work without close supervision.
- Maintains a consistent, high awareness, and importance on safety. Lead by example.
- Perform monthly safety scans and take initiative in corrective action.
- Must perform quality audits.
- Work Expertly/patiently works with employees.
- Must know, understand, and support all plant policies.
- Must regularly connect with production employees, supervisors, quality coordinators, brine maker, and Quality Manager in performing duties and solving problems.
- Assist in training and communication with employees on quality issues/procedures.
- Must complete training as assigned in areas of quality and safety.
- Must perform computer skills including accessing procedures & forms, sending email, formatting spreadsheets and data entry.
- The candidate will be trained in SAP.
- Must perform collection, filing, and verification duties associated with Quality documents in a timely manner.
- Must operate Lab Equipment and use chemicals safely.
- Must conduct quality tests as assigned.
- Must collect and prepare samples for analysis and accurately document results of testing.
- Must prepare chemical solutions used in lab tests.
- Understand and follow quality policies and procedures. Know how to find quality standards when questions arise.
- Read, understand and follow product specifications.
- Accurately respond to all quality hold situations.
- Assure all Processes/HACCP checks are done accurately and timely during Production Quality audits.
- Resample and retain unacceptable products and assist in rework.
- Perform all other duties assigned by management.
- Perform basic sanitation duties in the lab.
Expected Experience & Required Skills:
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- Strong math skills.
- Completion of one basic chemistry course.
Work Environment & Schedule:
This position is considered a Manufacturing plant environment with heavy machinery and equipment. Overtime and weekend work required as dictated by business needs. You may be required to switch schedules or shifts as the need arises. Must wear the following PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): bump cap/hard hat, safety glasses, slip resistant shoes, ear plugs.

- Frequent standing and walking required.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
