Job Description
This is a Research and Development (R&D) role leading project initiatives across the Processed Cheese categories within the Meat and Cheese Business Unit. This candidate should have a proven record of developing and executing work plans and driving for results in a variety of challenging and complex settings. The candidate will be an R&D leader for technical projects to meet business initiatives focused on growth, brand maintenance, cost engineering, and quality improvement. The candidate will also help to drive the long-term technology enablers for the business unit. This role is responsible for the design and execution of product testing, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, documentation, communicating results, and product commercialization. Proven communication and teamwork skills are essential in this role, which operates in a dynamic and cross-functional environment. This position requires an individual to manage multiple assignments/ tasks concurrently with a high degree of autonomy.
Responsibilities

Demonstrates the willingness/ability to learn new product categories and/or processing areas

Work directly with the Business Unit, cross-functional team, plants, and vendors as the R&D project leader to develop and implement multiple new product launches from concept to commercialization

Creates and edits formulas, processing procedures and finished product specifications

Design and conduct plant trials and summarize results

Collaborates with operations to optimize processes and production for existing items within the limits of product specifications

Develop and manage deliverables to achieve R&D timelines and possess the ability to prioritize between a variety of business initiatives

Maintain technical documentation

Adapt and apply scientific principles to new situations/products and have a high degree of autonomy
Qualifications:
-
BS/MS degree in Dairy Science, Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or related field

2+ years of experience in product development and commercialization

Excellent communication, influencing, and problem solving skills
-
Experience across a broad range of cheese and dairy ingredients, formulations and manufacturing processes desired, but is not a prerequisite

Strong understanding of Design of Experiments, and ability to coach others in this space

Willingness to travel approximately 25-30% of time

New Hire Base Salary Range:
$77,800.00 – $97,300.00
Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
